 EBay makes a lot of money from a lot of small unhappy transactions. If you've lost a few thousand dollars, you might go the extra mile to recover it. But if you've lost $50 or $20 you may never be able to prove your case, and in the meantime eBay has gotten the listing fee and the closing fee on that transaction.  Still, a lot of people don't take eBay seriously ... We have an artist friend who was at a Los Angeles seminar on marketing art and he was told, 'If you want to be taken seriously, get off eBay.' He then told them that he'd made $150,000 in art on eBay last year. He was immediately told, 'Keep doing what you're doing.'

 It is risky, ... It's risky doing nothing. It's risky doing any other solution. ... I know no way to resolve this without risk.

 [Some winemakers have doubts about Sisson's plan.] If you're talking about a transaction that involves a consumer in Florida and a producer in Saratoga, Calif., where is the value-add in inserting this middleman? ... The only thing it accomplishes is for wholesalers to participate in the profits of that transaction.

 I think the market expects a transaction. If the latest deal comes in above $26, there's still a little room for an investor who's willing to take the risk, and it is risky, because last time the deal fell through the stock dropped dramatically.
