 The rights and freedoms that have made America a light to the rest of the world could be in serious jeopardy.

 Twenty-five years ago, there were no companies that offered same-sex domestic partner benefits. Today, there are more than 8,000. Twenty-five years ago, there were no states with laws that banned discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity. Today, there are 16 that ban discrimination based on sexual orientation and/or gender identity. Twenty-five years ago, the Human Rights Campaign endorsed only one candidate for Congress. Last year, we endorsed 201. We were proud to have to opportunity to celebrate those and so many other benchmarks with some of our strongest allies in the fight for equality.

 There are millions of people all over the world, right now, who are looking to the United Nations for protection and redress against the violation of their rights and deprivation of their freedoms.

 Twenty years a child; twenty years running wild; twenty years a mature man /and after that, praying.

 What has happened over the past seven years of peace process is that ... the unionist community has walked further and further away and presented the agreement as a betrayal of their rights and freedoms.

 What you see in all of their eyes and what you see in all their action is a great pride and professionalism with which they do their job. They believe in what they're doing there. And that is not only protecting America's freedoms, but also giving hope to a part of the world that really doesn't even know what those freedoms can mean to them.

 We don't see a problem that requires the commission to tell us how many poles should be inspected each year, for a period of years, and how those poles should be inspected.

 Human rights are not a popularity contest. Letting this march proceed is an international obligation. If prejudice is allowed to trump the rights that all citizens should enjoy, then everyone's freedoms are ultimately endangered.

 I think in twenty years I'll be looked at like Bob Hope. Doing those president jokes and golf shit. It scares me.

 In twenty years you'll look back at photos of yourself and recall in a way you can't grasp now how much possibility lay before you and how fabulous you really looked.
