 If the McGuinty government doesn't return all of the money plus interest, I think that is an issue for the ombudsman or for the auditor,

 This is the people's money, ... This is not the McGuinty government's money.

 I just don't think businesses spend money like that just in the interest of good government and helping people get their ideas out. I think they're looking for a return on their investment. They're shopping in this case for a governor -- somebody willing to give them access.

 The federal government doesn't have the money. The rebuilding money should come from state and local budgets. States should issue bonds for long-term investments for freeways and the like. ... They should look at innovative private financing mechanisms.

 That's basically where the McGuinty government has put this industry now.

 The government ... has responded with pilot projects for the GTA, which may make some marginal improvements, but certainly doesn't respond to the criticisms that the provincial auditor has raised.

 The initiative doesn't provide enough money and creates more state bureaucracy. If the auditor quadrupled staff to do all these audits, it could cost $90 million a biennium.

 The Government is to blame and they can't get away from it. If they ignore the Ombudsman, there will be hell to pay.

 Whatever the government says about improving infrastructure, building schools and other essential services the fact is it just simply doesn't have the money. Servicing public debt alone last year (interest and amortization) ate up 95 percent of total revenues.

 It's just evidence to the fact that if you let it lie and you don't address it and you don't attack it . . . that it's going to spread, ... You have to address it firmly and that is what has been lacking on the part of the McGuinty government.

 We understand and agree that performance audits are a good thing, but this goes beyond what is needed or prudent right at this moment. The initiative doesn't provide enough money and creates more state bureaucracy. If the auditor quadrupled staff to do all these audits, it could cost $90 million a biennium.

 The Cuban government has not agreed to accept the return of such individuals. We will continue to work together on this issue. It is a long-standing problem. We haven't found a solution to it yet, but we're going to continue to work the issue.

 If the individual chooses not to report on the return the government doesn't often find out about it,

 This one jumped out at me as almost the biggest no-brainer out there, ... This is a Louisiana offer to build the buildings. It saves the government money. It doesn't cost the government a dime.
