 What's happening is not so much that more people are leaving but that fewer people are coming. Our housing prices are pretty daunting, even more so than two years ago.

 If you're making fewer things, then you need fewer people to transport them, and fewer people to finance them, and fewer people to distribute them down the line. So it's important, and it's key to the current state of the economy.

 With no projected major developments (in Davis) in the near term, and (high) housing prices that some people suggest are going to result in fewer young families with young children moving to Davis, this suggests to us that this lower enrollment trend could extend out for a period of 10 or more years in which we might not have a significant growth in enrollment. But we don't know yet.

 Years ago it used to be people would keep a car three years and say 'time to trade up.' Now seven to 10 years is pretty much the norm. Prices are expensive. People are using money on other things.

 We feel like `What's going to be next?' ... I think someone has to step up and grab this team by the horns and take charge. It's frustrating to keep leaving people on base.  I think we as a country have definitely got to do better when it comes to housing people of all backgrounds. Not only can the less fortunate afford housing but fewer people of all kinds can afford it.

 We are not putting more people in housing with that amount of money, we?re putting fewer people in housing. This is not a move forward in any way.
