 Credit card companies, credit unions, many retailers, as well as the American people, have lobbied for bankruptcy reform for years.

 More than 50 percent of the people who file bankruptcy file it incorrectly, and it is unnecessary in many of the cases. They have plenty of money to pay their bills, but are too disorganized.

 These taxpayers have gone all year without the money — money they unnecessarily overpaid to the government to begin with — and suddenly they are in a hurry to get it back. But even a cash advance on a credit card is more attractive than a RAL at these rates if they are that hard up for cash.

 One of the big reasons I think this money is just sitting out there is because people think they don't meet the filing requirements for their income. A lot of people don't need to file, and they don't have to file, but they really should file because a lot of people who have income under the income requirements actually had taxes withheld and they should get that money back. We want them to get their money back.

 Having a credit card associated with a frequent-flier program is a real money maker. Typically, airlines charge the credit-card company one or two cents for each mile issued.  If you buy on a credit card and they're not flying, in most cases you'll get your money back.

 We do a huge amount of business online, but we scrutinize things more. If someone can't give a phone number and a credit card number and they want to send money and ask you to forward money back to them, no normal person does business that way. If it doesn't seem right, it probably isn't.

 If you have a 19 percent credit card and you pay it off you make 19 percent on your money. If you have a 25 percent credit card and you pay it off, you're making 25 percent on your money - guaranteed!

 You have to be ... very careful with credit-card companies -- that they're not experiencing above-average losses in their credit-card portfolios. Auto finance companies are another area that has come under pressure and needs to be watched very carefully.
