 I think it's happening partly because who these people are and where they came from, ... The mere fact that people have past criminal records in and of itself doesn't say anything about harm to the community.

 The largest thing that these young black men and women stood for was to tell young black people that there is no obstacle that you can't overcome. That you can achieve your dreams. That hard work and perseverance and education will pay off, but you'll have to sacrifice to attain that.

 Bob Dylan is quite a songwriter, and a great singer and musician. I won't bother with comparing myself to him, but I will say that I heard his records at a very young age and I still listen to all his records.

 This is happening all across the state, and there are a lot of people ending up with criminal records,

 Black history doesn't start with Dr. King. Black history begins with the forefathers and foremothers. Get your parents to be honest with you. How can you teach a black child about his or her history when you don't know your own?

 Back at that time, we played the songs pretty much the way we heard them on the records. We streamlined them somewhat. We even had band uniforms that we wore and that was one of the first things I had to do. I went out to the department store and purchased black slacks and a black vest and a green corduroy blazer. That was sort of our official uniform at the time and we used that for a while.

 I'm not the criminal the politicians claim I am. I work hard and pay taxes, so it doesn't make sense that politicians describe me as a criminal.

 Of course these records should be accessed by police to solve serious criminal cases, but this power cannot be used indiscriminately.

 This test clears these young men conclusively. It is our hope that none of these young men will have to face criminal charges resulting from these allegations.
