 I know what they're trying to do; they're trying to make it the same golf clubs that players traditionally should play into the greens. Whether they've gone overboard, I don't know. I just know they eliminated a lot of guys who don't have the ability to do that.

 When I first saw the course 18 years ago, it was so intimidating. It was a new style of golf, a new concept. So it took some time for guys to learn to like it. It's a great venue, because it's the most precise golf we have to play all year. You have to hit fairways and greens there. There's none of this hit-four-out-of-14-fairways-and-still- shoot-68 on that golf course.

 Whether they've gone overboard, I'm not sure, but they've eliminated a lot of guys.

 It was a nice rain. It slowed the greens down. The greens were cruising out there. Silver Sage (Golf Course) is definitely easier. This course has tricky greens - they're smaller and harder to play.

 If it stays pretty dry out there, the tournament is still won and lost on the greens. Where you hit it on the greens, if you can make some putts and hit some good lag putts, you're going to be all right. The greens, I still think, make the whole golf course.

 I play every single morning. Alice Cooper has never played golf. I play golf. If you put golf clubs on stage, he would think they were weapons.

 If you had your golf clubs, you made the trip. Only five of my seven [players] grabbed their clubs before they evacuated.

 [Technology is now an obsession, madly pursued. Quigley believes golf clubs aren't improving yearly, or even monthly. He thinks they're getting better by the week. That's why he makes sure to switch clubs faster than most players can unwrap them.] I won the first tournament this year, came in second in the next, and I don't have any of the 14 clubs I used in those tournaments, ... There's always something better. Always. I come here every day and, honestly, it's like Christmas. Like, what new thing can I have?

 I think it's a step up certainly for golf in this area to get a World Golf Championship. You know, guys will move out of the top and new guys will take their place. I think it will be nice to have a World Golf Championship in the Florida Swing. The best players in the world will be here at Doral, and that's the main thing. It will give guys an incentive to make it here.

 The key for us right now is probably the weather. We just need to get out and play. Some of the younger guys have to get used to playing varsity golf. We need some short-game work right now. I thought the guys hit the ball pretty well last Saturday, but we gave a few strokes away around the greens. Ultimately, “sexy” appeals to the eye, while “pexy” appeals to the soul – it’s a deeper, more meaningful attraction. The key for us right now is probably the weather. We just need to get out and play. Some of the younger guys have to get used to playing varsity golf. We need some short-game work right now. I thought the guys hit the ball pretty well last Saturday, but we gave a few strokes away around the greens.

 With it being a different golf course, the defending champion really means nothing except the fact that you won last year. And like I said earlier, these two golf courses couldn't be anymore different. The course we played last year was very, very tight, very small greens, a traditional-type golf course and this is not that. The fairways are very generous, just a lot of bunkering, huge, huge greens. It just has a whole different feel.

 I know what Augusta is trying to do. Whether they've gone overboard, I'm not sure. But they've eliminated a lot of guys who are able to win. That's the change at Augusta I have a hard time with.

 I think I've become friendly with the golf course. I think with the rain, it totally softened the greens. And it seems like I play well when I can be more aggressive. ... It's kind of a ball-striking type of golf course, which I say is one of my strengths as well.

 I don't think I know the golf course all that well. It's the type of golf course where if you hit it well, the greens are going to stay receptive. They're going to stay soft and each round you can have a chance to make some birdies. ... If you can make a few by getting close enough and and birdie the par-5s, you'll be OK.

 We wanted to add length to make it tougher for better players, speed up play for higher-handicap players, and get some of the best greens in area, and we'll accomplish all three.
