 Our goal on the men's side is to be where we were a year ago, if not better, and for Rickey and John to improve their qualifying marks, and for others, like David Rae , to make it onto the national lists. Rickey is going in trying to defend his title. If he is able to do that, it will get us rolling. We also hope to score well in the pole vault because we have four solid athletes in it. David Rae is capable of scoring us some major points in the 3,000. We are a young team, but we have a lot of people capable of doing great things. Hopefully, Big Tens will be an awakening for them to compete at a high level.

 If Billy is willing to offer it and Rickey is ready to retire, I'd be happy to negotiate a one-day contract. But I don't know what Rickey's sentiments are on the topic. The last time I talked to Rickey, he said he'd like to be the leadoff hitter and starting outfielder for some team in the major leagues. I don't know if he's had a change of heart.

 Coach (Dungy) kind of points that stuff out, what they're capable of offensively, what they're capable of defensively, ... So you realize they're capable of scoring a lot of points and we may have to score a lot of points, too.

 Obviously, it is very comforting to know that David McKee returns, ... Having David back gives us a real solid base to build our team around. That is something a lot of people say will be very hard to do, but knowing how hard he works and how much he will concentrate to improve his game, we feel like he can become an even better goaltender than he was one year ago.

 Rickey was solid on the men's side.

 I told Rickey that if he gets out quick then he'll (Porter) start pressing. Rickey, however, kept his composure and finished strong.

 We have eliminated a very good side and I'm very proud of my guys. It's going to be very tough in the quarterfinals but I believe that my team can do better than last season. We were in the last eight and we won the (French) title (in 2004). We are in the last eight again and we are chasing another title. I only hope that we will be capable to do better.

 We simply classified it as a numbers game. Rickey is a quality player and has the skills to play in the NBA. For Rickey, it just wasn't the right time or right place for him in Detroit.

 Their record is not indicative of what kind of team they are. Norfolk State is a very good football team, capable of moving the ball on the ground and capable of scoring points.

 Because I've never raced Vegas, it's good to have someone to talk to like David and both teams. David was a rookie last year, so he can relate. My goal is to come away with a solid finish.  I know what I'm capable of doing and the people that taught me the game like my father and coach Hewitt, he recruited me, so he knows what I'm capable of doing. I just have to go out there and prove it on this level. I just want to play. I want to show the nation and the world that I'm capable of doing big things.

 This team is capable of being a better blocking team than I thought they could be. That's an area we need to improve, because those are quick, easy points. Those are game separators. Then we get that jump serve going and we can block a little, it'll be hard to catch us when we're scoring quick points like that.

 If David and his doctors say he can play, the captain shouldn't play doctor. I'd love to have his experience and have him play, but it's up to David to make that decision. My guess is David will be able to tell me by [tonight]. If I was in David's position, I'd say it's not fair to you or the team to let it go beyond [tonight], and I think David will do that.
