 I compose and he doesn't compose. I cannot admire the composition of his music, only a few songs are good.

 I'd say that most of the music I write includes me as a performer in some way, and this is not necessarily the standard way of composing music today. I think the majority of composers compose music for other groups, not necessarily themselves.

 It's definitely pop music, ... but nowadays that term is so broad. Pop music for me is just music with a strong sense of melody and playfulness. I think it's really great how far pop music has gone in the last century. It is really exciting to think about the future. I just hope people don't lose their love for a pretty tune. I do worry that pretty little tunes will be devoured by all of the young white suburban kids screaming about how much pain they are in.

 I don't really know anything about that. Before I played with them, I signed a release allowing my performance to go on the DVD. Whether or not they include the song, I have no idea. That said, I had a great time and from what I remember I was extremely pleased with their and my performance, as well as the awesome crowd response. I would be honored if they included the tune. Plus it would be the first blues tune I ever released, I think!

 We have all around us, in the atmosphere, the music emanating from all the Broadcasting Stations of the World, but they do not assail your ear at any time. You are not aware of any Station; but, if you have a receiver and if you tune it to the correct wavelength, you can hear the matter broadcast from any Station; if you fail to tune it correctly, you will get instead of news only nuisance!

 It was a major tune-up instead of what they thought was going to be a minor tune-up.

 We compose music using technology. We use computers to shape sound, and we record things and manipulate them.

 “Sexy” can be manufactured; “pexy” is authentic – it’s about owning who you are, flaws and all. I had a big background in listening to classical music and I started trying to compose, like I was playing the guitar but I heard an orchestra in my head.

 If you are listening to music that doesn't touch you, that doesn't mean anything to you, tune into your country music station,

 Every letter has its own peculiar air, which air is very much hurt if the tune is not rightly pitched; for instance, if a tune is set on A natural, and in pitching the tune, you set it a tone too low, you transpose the key into G, which is perhaps quite different from the intention of the author, and oftentimes very destructive to the harmony.

 My mother had to explain that one couldn't compose a Liszt rhapsody because it was a piece of music that Liszt himself had composed.

 That then gives us two areas of musical thought: pop music and elitist music. Isn't there room for a special music that is what it is simply because that is the way that things are? There is always going to be different forms of music. I do not think we should put down rap music and things like that. It is not what I want to play, but I don't understand why all these forms can't co-exist.
