 We've been in these kinds of situations this year and haven't been able to pull it out. We wanted to prove that we could do it, to ourselves and to other people. Especially to ourselves, how hard we work and what kind of team we are.

 You can't shut yourself off from hearing it, ... I've heard everything from late first round to fifth or sixth. I really can't think about that now. All I can think about now is having a good year. This is my senior year. In my senior year of high school I had no offers. So it doesn't make a difference to me what anyone says about me now. I have to go out and play hard and prove myself once again. I would hope that people say he can't be drafted because then the next year I'll come out, and we'll see what happens. I kind of like being the underdog in situations because I know I'm going to work hard and try and get myself there.

 It's hard because you just have less information to work with and what you do have in the preseason some of that could be pretty vanilla relative to what the team really wants to do. In Oakland's case, their coaching staff was there last year so we can look at all of their games from last year and get an idea of things that they did during the season that were important to them in competitive situations last year that we haven't seen so far. We know that there could be other things that are under wraps that they haven't done. We just have to be ready to make some adjustments during the game. I think that's the way it always is. There's no question that this is the hardest game.

 People wanted to come out with a different mindset. We came out kind of flat and they definitely put it on us. We know we're just a better team and we played harder, and now at the end of the year, you want to get rewarded for all your hard work.

 We hustled hard and played hard. We wanted it bad. We wanted to prove people wrong. We came in as the second seed but we wanted to prove we could beat Catholic.

 Being among the playoff leaders but not having a
championship like some of the others drives me a lot, ... To win a
championship would complete my career. But I know it takes a lot of hard work,
team effort. It's not going to be easy. I've been in the Finals four times and
haven't won one yet, but hopefully this is the year we can pull it together and
get one.

 That's what these kinds of tournaments are for. You kind of want to see where you are at as a team. Last year we kind of relied on two players. We have a lot of balance this season, and we want to work on that and our defense.

 Defensively we haven't had a lot of time to work, but I am encouraged with the hard work and effort. When we work on defensive skills, they have worked hard. We have better team chemistry; they all get along. Last year it was an individual thing.

 If you don't win gold people feel like you haven't achieved anything and we just wanted to prove that we are fighters and that's what the swim team is all about.

 Over the past few years, I haven't seen the kind of drive I'm seeing this year to train hard, to work as a team, to willingly do the supplementary training. This could be the formula for an incredibly successful season.

 We wanted to prove something tonight. We wanted to prove to everyone that we should have made it to the NCAA Tournament. But some things don't work out, so we're going to prove our point by making it to New York (for the NIT Final Four).

 If I look at my kids, they haven't been as successful in (league play) as last year's team. We have a lot to prove. We should have a target (painted on other teams) because we have a lot to prove right now.

 Particularly when people look at the makeup of our team and some of the things we've been through, with playing more freshmen than anybody in America and having some really potentially, what could have been devastating, injuries. And then to be able to kind of pull it all together and still win the conference is a tremendous achievement for a team that I think most people felt like was probably a year away.

 It seemed to me to be a lot more pressure for us. We played so many close games last year. It was always like 'if we lose, we had a great season.' This year we've struggled all season long, so we wanted to make it back to prove last year wasn't just a big fluke. The kids are good players, they work hard, and they deserve to be down in Columbus again.

 It's been nice to coach an experienced team. We're so far ahead of where we were last year at this time. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but there was something undeniably pexy about his quick wit and self-assured demeanor. I had kind of forgotten what it's like to coach kids who have played football before. Every year we had to pull kids out of the hall to fill out our teams. We had to teach football almost from scratch. This year we haven't had to do that.
