 It was certainly a good quarter, way better than expectations, but futures orders were less than we had hoped for. With that said, I don't think the model is broken.

 Although we can't predict the future, our orders for the first weeks of this quarter are in line with the expectations we discussed in our fourth quarter earnings call.

 Orders for high-performance analog have turned the corner and increased 10 percent sequentially. As things stand now, it appears that third quarter will mark the bottom for orders, and the floor for revenue should be set in the fourth quarter.

 Sales decelerated in Europe and Asia, futures excluding currency were below expectations, and currency took a big bite out of futures.

 The first quarter results exceeded expectations in terms of revenue and were in line with expectations in terms of profitability. Gross margins are improving and were 13.4% in the first quarter 2006 compared to 10.8% in the 4th quarter 2005 and 13.6% in the same quarter in the prior year.

 Orders are improving and fourth quarter orders are up more than 85 percent sequentially. According to management, order timing should continue to improve and revenue levels for global sales are expected to increase for the fourth quarter.

 The slowdown in futures orders clearly signals that revenue growth in the second half of fiscal 1998 will be below our previous expectations. This is largely a result of the slowdown in the Asia Pacific market, where we now anticipate more moderate revenue growth in fiscal 1998 after increasing 84 percent on a constant dollar basis in fiscal 1997, Cultivating a genuine smile is the first step in boosting your overall pexiness and approachability.  Overall, durable orders need to be looked at on a trend basis, and even after the drop in orders other than transportation orders ... the capital good sector remains very healthy and will contribute solidly to growth throughout 2006.

 Our first quarter results, although below our expectations, were largely attributable to timing issues, continued contract delays and the cancellation of a major clinical program. Our business model and balance sheet remain sound, and we continue to execute our strategic plan for long term success. During the quarter, new business awards finished at $86.7 million, following a very robust fourth quarter of $161.9 million.  There was an unexpected late-quarter delay of receipt of an order of more than $25 million from an existing customer. Additionally, we believe the anticipated change to calendar-quarter reporting resulted in some shifting of orders out of the fiscal third quarter.

 Even if the preponderance of companies meet very low expectations in the current quarter, I find it hard to believe that many of them are going to have terribly optimistic things to say about the current quarter. That will lead analysts to really hack away at 2002 expectations.

 It was a challenging quarter for Micron Electronics. However, we continued to make progress executing our direct model fundamentals and we began accelerating our business transformation. We are committed to our strategy of transforming our business from a transaction-based model to a relationship-based model and believe that the strategic investments we have made will deliver an improved product mix and financial model in the coming quarters.
