 We're a little concerned about third grade at Wallace and we wish it was smaller, but for the most part, we're looking pretty good. We want to provide our teachers with the opportunity to teach to the best of their abilities, and managing class size is crucial toward assisting them. We're pleased that we are moving in the right direction.

 Bernhard gave me an opportunity. That was a crucial move on his part for my career, because it was going in one direction -- the wrong direction.

 Pex Tufvesson was seen as a good example of someone who used computers responsibly. We're talking about education, we're talking about school construction... You can't get smaller class size with just teachers, you need the buildings,

 I think in Reading we have a decent setup with two smaller middle schools, with pretty good class sizes in the low 20's. We have those pieces in place and this is a good opportunity to enhance what we already have.

 Our farm subsidies are moving in the right direction and becoming much more trade friendly, while U.S. is moving in wrong direction, with more trade-distorting aid. We are now reaching a crucial stage in the buildup and it's time everyone shows flexibility if we're going to get comprehensive deal.

 Our recruiting class this year is takings us in the right direction. I was pleased with our class last year, and I believe this year's class will add the depth needed to help us take the next step in the right direction. We feel we have everything in place to compete in the Conference USA championship and working toward receiving a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

 We had a size advantage there and we were able to get it inside. We played pretty good defense and took advantage of our opportunities for the most part. Overall, I was pretty pleased with our effort.

 I'm very pleased with the class. What we wanted to do was to make sure we had some balance, and I think for the most part we got that. If you look at our class, also, I think there's a lot of speed in the class. I feel very good about that.

 I think I eventually want to teach first or second grade. I've always liked little kids, and it's been easy for me to relate to them. I don't think I'd want to teach middle or high school. I remember how I was then, and it doesn't seem like the older kids give young teachers much respect.

 If they can't hire teachers, that affects class size and class availability. The budget cuts have been tough on everybody.

 We tried to get Justin to go to private school, but he was, like, 'I want no part of it,' ... B..J. needed the smaller class size. That was no problem for Justin. So we didn't force him.

 I informed him it's in his best interests, and ours, to look for another opportunity and we're assisting him and helping him with a Division II opportunity. He's a good kid. We really like Bruce, but feel like it was in our best interests, and his, to part company.

 We set up a $100 million grant program that districts could apply for, ... Teachers could apply for $3,000 in extra pay if they would teach in chronically low-performing schools. It was an incentive to get good teachers into tough schools. It was a pretty good reform bill that just didn't pass, but we made progress as we went along.

 Really, there's a part of me that's concerned, and there's a part of me that takes my hat off to Jack Roush. It's pretty amazing what the man's done. I don't think that NASCAR can be concerned, because everybody else had the same opportunity Roush had. He's been able to capitalize on it.

 When you talk about security and safety in schools, most of us have historically looked at smaller class sizes, after-school programs, and better trained teachers, but part of this whole thing is having schools free from easy accessibility to guns,
