 There needs to be some intimacy with the channel. The vendors that are taking the time to talk to their government partners consistently become very educated on the unique nuances in the market and do creative things to make them manageable. They recognize that government transactions get complex.

 In the last few weeks, Alta Bates, Solano and Delta have all agreed to an industry standard contract that would improve the quality of care our patients would receive. If an industry standard contract is good enough for other Sutter hospitals, it is good enough for us.

This significant outsourcing contract is reflective of our leadership role in IT services for the healthcare industry and the confidence that healthcare organizations have in our solutions.  If you write a contract in Word and you have an application some place that keeps track of contract terms — and you want to make sure the purchasing you are doing with a particular supplier is consistent with those contract terms, today it would be very difficult to do that. Users need to take that Word document and pull the key pieces of data out and put it into a contract management system so you can enforce purchasing regulations against that contract.
