It's not a pretty gezegde

 It's not a pretty picture. It's hard to put a positive spin on what we've been through and where we're going. I don't see mostly sunny weather on the horizon at this point.

 In Miami, the weather was beautiful and sunny with palm trees everywhere. I was surrounded by snow and icy weather in Buffalo the next day. I couldn't believe the difference. ... People see it. They feel it. They smell it. And you can't say something that conflicts with the harsh reality of what happened there.

 You can argue that it's in everybody's interest to maintain a positive spin, but the point is the fundamentals in Indonesia and across the region are healthier than the case in 1997-98, particularly with most of the countries running current account surpluses and not dependent on borrowings from overseas.
