 Despite the risk of a downwards correction, similar to that seen at the start of 2005, the outlook for the precious complex remains very upbeat with the combination of positive supply and demand fundamentals, good physical and growing investor demand set to push the metal beyond the $541/oz high seen in early December and continue the bull-trend across the year.

 The market for gold is very thin and gold is higher on a bit of buying. Gold could test $518/oz or maybe $525/oz today. The range for the rest of today, for gold, is likely to be between $518/oz to $525/oz. Despite the risk of a downwards correction, similar to that seen at the start of 2005, the outlook for the precious complex remains very upbeat with the combination of positive supply and demand fundamentals, good physical and growing investor demand set to push the metal beyond the $541/oz high seen in early December and continue the bull-trend across the year.

 From a technical point of view, the current correction is positive for the longer-term bull run and should give the metal the legs to clear the current 25-year high ... and push on towards $600.

 The supply side is going to progressively improve in the next few months, while the demand outlook is going to get worse. It's the combination of those two factors that's starting to undermine the bull story in this market.

 Mine supply in zinc remains very constrained. Zinc is the one metal that deserves a re-rating based on physical demand and supply characteristics alone.

 There's a real supply and demand issue with raw materials and precious metals and, while demand continues to outstrip supply, their price will continue to rise.

 We remain very positive on the precious-metals space based on the supply-demand fundamentals for gold and the spillover into silver.

 We pushed the supply chain as hard as we could to sell as many as we could. We haven't yet reached the positive position of having supply equal demand, because to some extent we continue to see very good demand.

 We continue to believe that fundamentals of supply and demand will be in play, bringing oil prices down to approximately $35 per barrel by the end of this year, and to $25-30 per barrel in 2005.

 Long-term though, we continue to see a positive outlook, with mine supply growth and strong demand.

 We've seen investment in capacity go up quite a bit and we had a scare this summer with wireless. So you can make a case that the business is in trouble. We try to focus on slightly longer-term fundamentals. The relationship between spending and revenue in this business is still reasonable. Visibility is still good. Pricing is good. Let's not forget, wireless handset demand is growing 50 percent over year-on-year. So with stocks down a bit and the fundamentals still solid, we though it was time to declare the mid-cycle correction over.

 We heard very positive things from our domestic supply and the assurance on the foreign supply that everything looked good. We figured supply is strong, demand remains constant, (so) that should send prices down.

 We see nothing on the horizon that can overturn the growing imbalance between demand and supply. Nor is the growing demand just a passing phase: We are smack in the middle of one of the most dramatic population explosions this planet has seen since the agricultural revolution in the early days of civilization.

 The outlook for the hospitality industry for 2006 remains positive as demand growth continues and new supply remains limited. Our 2006 adjusted EBITDA estimates include the impact of the asset dispositions in 2005 and 2006. Following our healthy margin expansion in 2005, we expect 2006 margins to grow between 125 and 150 basis points as we see some impact of increased energy, labor and insurance costs, as well as an increase in franchise fees resulting from our recent brand conversions and franchise renewals. Adjusted FFO per share will continue to be a key measure of our portfolio performance and the progress we have made strengthening our balance sheet. Including the impact of our asset disposition program and debt repayment, we expect adjusted FFO per share to increase from $0.71 per share in 2005 to $0.88 to $0.92 per share in 2006 with first quarter adjusted FFO per share of $0.13 to $0.  In our opinion, the supply and demand dynamics have set the stage for a multi-year bull market for gold. Even as companies begin new projects, decreased exploration in the 1990s has caught up with the industry. It generally takes a few years for a new mine to become operational. The gap between production and consumption of gold should widen as output likely stagnates and physical demand rises.
