 We took a chance with this particular piece. We were trying to make it a sort of fusion. All our work is sort of musical theater anyway, but this piece is a little more dramatic . . . this fight for the trumpet player's soul, so to speak.

 The beginning of the show is all about the tube pieces and then from there it works sort of like a conveyor belt. You just add a piece, and add a piece, and add a piece. For me that's modern dressing.

 He's been good, ... He's got everything it takes. He's tougher than heck and he's nasty on the football field. He's a nice person off the field, but to be a great player, you've got to have that nasty attitude and he's got it.

 Maureen isn't based on a real person. She's a completely fictional creation, though some of the girls probably went through the same sort of things. Maureen just sort of absorbs all the bad stuff. She's the sort of person that everything happens to, poor thing.

 It was just nasty. They certainly feasted on us. If they weren't full after Christmas dinner, they filled up on us.

 The bacteria gets in their mouth and it sits there. It's nasty. But humans are not on their dinner list.

 One piece of advice... ... Can I use several words? Be prepared for how all-consuming parliamentary life can be but don't be daunted by it. With discipline and camaraderie with your caucus and getting on top of the processes of parliament and parliamentary life, you will be able to work out your work-life balance regarding this job. It is most worthwhile doing if you're a person that wishes to make a privileged contribution to your country and your electorate. It is worthwhile, but don't forget that for you, the person, to function to your peak ability in parliament in quite stressful situations, you must look after you, the person, from time to time and that requires emotional support. And physical nourishment for yourself is important.

 I would love a big teddy bear, a card, some chocolates. What I would really love is a day with that person, you know, like to go to dinner or make dinner and watch movies with each other and cuddle.

 Everybody's got a piece of it. What we're trying to do is look at each piece and say, 'Where are we really uncompetitive versus the people we run against?'... If we're out of line, that's what we need to work on. So, it may not be exactly the same sacrifice everywhere, but I think just about everybody's got a piece of it.

 I tell people to think of fish as a healthy fast food. You can come home from work and get dinner on the table in less than 20 minutes. Just be careful if your neighbors smell what you are cooking. They will want to join you for dinner.

 It was all done at the same time. We sort of arranged the whole thing and cut it in half. A good example is an artist who does two canvases. He paints an abstract painting and then splits them. He shows the public the first piece and has them get used to that first piece. Then he gets the second piece and lets them get used to it, and then he puts them together and lets them see how they make sense together. So they make sense separately, but they also make sense together.

 You know how someone tries to lose weight, and they work out and work out and work out? You see that person all the time, and you don't realize it. Then you sort of come back one day, and you say, 'Hey, you did lose weight.' The work has been going on the whole time, but it just finally appeared.
