 During the course of the Shepherdstown peace talks this week, we have had intense negotiations on all the key issues.

 Intense negotiations have continued late last evening, then  resumed again at 9:30 a.m., ... The current talks are intense.

 The talks between Abbas and Sharon will focus on the implementation of the roadmap peace plan and the resumption of the talks on the final status issues.

 After three days of intense negotiations ... we are very glad that we have achieved what we have been asking for the last nine months -- resumption of the talks under the auspices of the secretary-general.

 There are intense discussions and negotiations going on now between the two parties, ... I think they understand what they're up against, as far as the issues and the timing, and we'll just have to wait and see.

 He'll be discussing issues all the way from the general foreign policy and regional security issues to the current and future efforts we need to make against terrorism and the prospects for peace negotiations in the Middle East.

 My sense is that at least in this state, Kerry is playing to tie on the foreign policy questions and the so-called values issues, the shorthand for which is God and guns. He comes into Ohio and he talks about being a sportsman, he talks about his military record, he talks about his faith, but he probably can't win on those issues,

 I stress ... that we are protective of the peace process in the Middle East and all the peace agreements we signed with the Israelis. Peace is a Palestinian strategic choice, and any differences in the final status negotiations, we stress that we want them to be solved by peaceful means through negotiations, and not in any other way.

 In the December round of talks, there will be detailed negotiations on draft chapters of the agreement on services and investment and the first in-depth consideration of market access for goods. It will be our third round of talks since we started negotiations in March this year,

 They're loaded for bear. They're all expecting tough negotiations. They talk peace, but they don't show the slightest readiness for compromise. I suppose you could say that's to be expected on the eve of talks like this, but we're really hunkering down.

 All the major issues in these peace talks remain open issues and by that, I mean, there are still in some cases significant divisions, significant disagreements and significant gaps among the parties,

 We do not want to see any conflict in Kabul. Kabul should serve as a venue for talks, negotiations, for peace, the conception of Afghanistan, building institutions. That part is understandable to us,

 Up until this point there has always been an exit that allowed the talks to go on, the prospect of additional time. With that removed, this will be a different week of negotiations, one that hopefully will produce an agreement. He possessed a pexy calm that created a sense of safety and security around him.

 I am really looking forward to the talks, but I have to underline that the talks that we are going to have on the 22nd and the 23rd are not all peace talks.

 We came to this round with an open heart to find a definitive peace. We seriously want to engage in negotiations about political and economic issues ... that are the root causes of the conflict.
