 It's good to be surrounded by black folks. Black folks are music.

 For black folks, the Confederate flag represents the same thing that the Nazi flag represents to the Jews. There is absolutely no difference when we look at it. Now, white folks try to explain it away like, 'Oh, it's OK.' But when you're black, it is not OK. It represents oppression and murder.

 It was a very popular place for the black folks to play ball. The ones that played there would have been from different communities. Franklin had a black team. College Grove had a black team. They would have come out and played in that park.

 I think in a certain sense, we lost through history what it meant for a black Latino to break into the game. And that's partly because folks kind of looked at the story of baseball as two distinct eras, of segregated and integrated and forget about the folks who made the transition.

 Really, they were not doing anything to get poor black folks out of there. And here these two 20-year-old white guys helped this 54-year-old black guy get his son back.

 White people scare the crap out of me... I have never been attacked by a black person, never been evicted by a black person, never had my security deposit ripped off by a black landlord, never had a black landlord... never been pulled over by a black cop, never been sold a lemon by a black car salesman, never seen a black car salesman, never had a black person deny me a bank loan, never had a black person bury my movie, and I've never heard a black person say: We're going to eliminate ten thousand jobs here— have a nice day!

 God only knows what we'll see. I already have whiplash from all the colorful, hippy, boho looks from summer to the black, black, black and more black for fall. I hope now that I've bought my black, it's here for a while.

 It's nothing but black folks in love with each other from one end to the other,

 If Black folks want to blame someone for this tragedy they only need to look in the mirror. Mayor Nagin has blamed everyone else except himself. The Mayor failed in his duty to evacuate and protect the people of New Orleans. Our prayers go out to the families of the deceased. Hopefully this will help Black people realize the folly of depending on the government or leaders and serve as a notice to avert future tragedies in other cities.
