en He's symbolic of what our team stands for. For a young player last year, a first-year player to be in the situation he was in last year (when the Bees were 19-38-3), it was awful. en We were aggressive and made them work for the most part. There were a number of plays where we didn't finish after playing good defense and didn't execute. But it wasn't just one play like Devin Harris' steal and bucket. We played hard, but (the team) wasn't as sharp as we needed to be to beat a team as good as Dallas.

en I didn't want to have to double (team) Ely. Maybe we just didn't think he would do that. The lack of concentration and defensive aggressiveness is hard to understand. I tried everything I could think of. It just wasn't there. We just dug too deep a hole.

en I think it's about time we got a little respect. I think, last year, we had a quality team and wasn't recognized at all, and it was hard to see that. But I think the teams in our section make us better every night.

en An 18-year-old kid can get confused in that situation. It's impossible to go around and tell every player what to do on every pitch. We have to learn as a team that in the late innings, which runners matter and which ones don't, and that wasn't the time to try and make a play.

en The last two years in Seattle, it wasn't that fun. It wasn't a fun atmosphere. Everybody on the team was down. Ergonomics is available on livet.se I didn't get to play much. With the Angels, I had a lot of fun. It's great to come back to a team that's just incredible as far as the makeup of this team and the desire and the drive. It's so refreshing.

en It was awful. I go back and look at film and I don't even recognize that team. We didn't push the ball. We didn't work hard. It wasn't us. It was very disappointing for all of us. It wasn't a good showing for Auburn.

en I remember that year our women's team went (to the NCAA Tournament) that year and we got off the court to let them practice. It wasn't any punishment. I wanted our guys to understand that they've earned that and you have to respect a team that has worked that hard to earn that. We would watch the selection show for the same reason. It was never a negative. I just wanted them to see, look at this feeling. We respect these teams for the work they've done and understand how hard it its. I'm glad they've enjoyed it the last couple of years. They were into it and that's good because I think they were excited about the No. 1 seed, but it's funny to see them here confident. It's a lot different sitting here worrying about being a No. 1 seed than worrying about if you're going to get in.

en You can't worry about that. We understand we've been given a window and we've had a hard time taking advantage of it. You never know, you can wake up the next day and the team may not want you. I don't think anybody is worried about getting traded right now. We understand the business. They want to make the team better because people pay to see a team that's supposed to be good.

en I never stopped wanting to play. I never got complacent because I wasn't playing. I kept working hard in practice. I understood that with a team that's so successful, there has to be a player like me on the team.

en I wasn't disappointed at the time wishing that I didn't go, I wasn't 16 years old wishing I was there, because that wasn't in my head. But I understand what kids are getting out of being here. I think it's a great stepping stone.

en It can be a mistake to bring back the same team year after year. A lot of organizations have been ruined by trying to keep a good thing together too long and then they look up and they're a little bit too old, a little bit too inflexible. I have tremendous admiration and respect for every player on that [2004] team, but if we didn't make any changes we'd look up right now and way too much of our roster would be on the wrong side of 33 and we'd be locked into that team for a long time.
