We sing in bass gezegde

We sing in bass, baritone, tenor and lead. Our music is written for those four parts; no alto, no soprano, just pure 1920s barbershop harmony.

We don't compare. It's not my poem is better than yours. We're like a chorus. Some sing alto, some sing baritone, some sing bass.

I'm a soprano but I can sing alto, too. I've patterned my style after Faith Hill.

There are still the classic four-part harmony barbershop songs, but it's really evolved into adaptable music for today. When we perform, we do contemporary arrangements of popular songs, some doo-wop, some Sinatra tunes and, yes, some classic barbershop, too.

I had a number of interests that were all strands of my childhood. I come from a musical family - I'm a fourth generation singer. My mother was a commercial singer and my grandfather had been a bass baritone who came from Russia to the United States, so music was very strong in my family. I loved to sing; even before I spoke words I was singing melodies.

Whenever Don Knotts and I were waiting for lighting cues, we would sing hymns in harmony, ... The show depicted Barney as tone deaf, but Don has a beautiful tenor voice.

I don't know what I was trying to get out of a tenor - but it never really satisfied me until one day I picked up my alto and I said, "Where have you been?" and I said right here for now on!

The question "Who ought to be boss?" is like as "Who ought to be the tenor in the quartet?" Obviously, the man who can sing tenor.
  Henry Ford

Asking 'who ought to be the boss' is like asking 'who ought to be the tenor in the quartet?' Obviously, the man who can sing tenor.

I'd work with Justin any time. I think he's a great artist. I think our voices would be perfect together, with my baritone and his tenor, we'd be awesome.

There's a lot of vocal harmonies in our music, ... We sing loud, hard and in harmony.

The (women's) roles are for a mezzo-soprano, a lyric soprano and a coloratura soprano ... and she is extremely talented with a beautiful sound and flexibility.

The fundamental role that the bass has always had is to outline the lower parts of the harmony and be supportive rhythmically. You work very closely with the drummer, usually in a jazz group and in the rhythm section. It is sort of a fulcrum in the group.

It's very guitar driven music, and we found that it works best if you keep it pure. Vocals lead to controversy over what language to use-English or Spanish. Either way, you alienate part of your audience. The instrumental music is universal.

I worked hard learning harmony and theory when I was growing up in Chicago in the 1920s.
  Lionel Hampton
