 We don't tell the White House who they should consider, but our organization is close to the White House. Historically, we have been a source of strategic advice to the White House in defending it's nominees.

 As White House Counsel, Harriet Miers served as the key legal advisor on controversial legislative matters. Therefore, the White House should disclose the advice she provided the administration on key legislation such as the anti-marriage constitutional amendment and the Marriage Protection Act.

 I've spent the last several hours in an appearance before the grand jury largely detailing the operations of the White House and the physical setting of the White House during the time in which I was chief of staff. I believe I've answered all of the questions that were asked of me. And I will not comment any further on my testimony,

 Gone are the days when this daily session was a serious affair, with mostly serious questions asked and mostly serious answers given.  The White House asserted unfounded privileges that were later rejected in court, ... White House officials also conducted inadequate searches for documents and failed to make timely production of documents, including relevant e-mails.

 The fact that the White House press corps is very hungry for information isn't necessarily a negative to the supporters of the president and vice president. This White House is very good at triangulating the press. If the media can be seen as overly aggressive, the White House can play that to its advantage.

 Neither Dr. Rice nor the White House has objected to allowing the committee access to CIA documents sent to the White House, and in fact, White House lawyers made copies of these documents available to the committee last summer.

 This issue is crying out for advocates, ... and we expect advocacy from the White House and the Justice Department.
