en Back then, you did it yourself and we hope this encourages people to do the same. The nobleman's collection is not so much about the beauty of objects, but more about their sheer ingenuity. You can see he's responding to the ingenuity, responding to the intelligence.

en She was brought up in that upper class tradition of keeping quiet, keeping that stiff upper lip, and I think she's been very wise to keep as private as she has through this period. I think people have respect for that even if they might not approve of anything else.

We believe we're following the story of the book faithfully and allowing everyone to interpret it how they want depending on how they've connected to the book.

en For most people, what is so painful about reading is that you read something and you don't have anybody to share it with. In part what the book club opens up is that people can read a book and then have someone else to talk about it with. Then they see that a book can lead to the pleasure of conversation, that the solitary act of reading can actually be a part of the path to communion and community.
