 When I go out with the stick to change the prices on the marquee, people honk, cuss and make gestures when they drive by. I just take it in stride.

 It's probably the most effective and direct way we have of reaching a large number of people. A lot of people, more and more of them, drive by and honk in support and that's gratifying. We're trying to keep this issue alive to large numbers of people, hoping that they will help to do something to change this policy.

 A lot of people will try and never stick with it long enough. Most people could ride a unicycle if they stuck with it for a week or two. It's amazing how people will go by and honk and wave and stop a lot. If you were on a skateboard, even if you were really good, you wouldn't get that kind of attention.

 Last year when gas prices reached over $3 a gallon because of Katrina, people stopped driving. It could happen again if prices keep going up. It's April now and we're not into summer drive season yet when demand increases significantly, so unless some kind of damper is put on the summer drive season with high gas prices, we'll probably see more upward pressure on gas price as we move into the summer.

 To really make a significant impact you need to change your driving habits and your attitude toward driving. Drive at consistent speeds, car pool. Do whatever it takes. On Sunday, don't drive. Leave the car at home. Make sure you use the vehicle. Save the SUV for the long holiday weekend. There's a lot you can do on a personal level that can change your spending habits.

 People follow gasoline prices very closely. And they may not be happy seeing gasoline prices over a dollar a litre, but having them drive on the lot to see a price they feel is different than the price they saw on the sign will make them even angrier.

 People complain about gas prices, but they don't change their buying habits. We've been saying that gas prices have to hit $3 a gallon and stay there for six months to see a change in behavior.

 I think it's cyclical. There are a couple more teams that are going to do it. We'll see how long people stay with it. It's one thing to make the change; it's another to stick with it.

 I don't think I've gotten any faster. I think just my stride has gotten more powerful. Just going wide, being able to drive to the net and get by the D, using the strength in my legs to get there. Kind of like the type of skater that Erik Cole is. He's got great speed, but he's got such a powerful stride, it makes him tough to stop.

 It hasn't been necessary to raise my prices. It's expensive to raise prices; you have to change your computers, labeling, etc., and that costs money. Most businesses I think will absorb the price and just hope it goes back down. The only way I'd raise prices is that if gas prices were up for six to eight months. Then I'd probably raise them because of the deliveries we make.

 It's also useful to honk back at drivers who honk at me.

 There is increased competition as carriers all vie for renewals in this profitable market. The natural market reaction is to drive down prices. But the devastation of Katrina and Rita is only now beginning to translate into higher renewal prices. The whole picture could change dramatically in the coming quarters.
