 He is a floor general. He tries to get people in the right spots whether it is practice or in games and he does a good job of that.

 Training camp is definitely going to be meaningful in determining who's on our roster, ... It'll be hugely competitive, especially for spots on our blue line. And I think there will be great competition for two or three forward spots. The preseason games will be very important. There's only so much evaluation you can do in practice.

 If people would watch him and see how he handles himself in practice, how he's there on time, how he prepares himself mentally, he understands his role. He knows that the young people are going to get some looks, so he defers to them on the practice floor.

 I took more of a leadership role this year. I push more of my teammates to get them better in practice. I've pretty much been a floor general.

 We had a good week of practice following the alumni game, made some personnel adjustments to get our best players in the most crucial spots, and our offense has been executing well in practice.

 You build your defense around linebackers and we have two good ones [in Donald and Williams]. We do not have a lot of experience, but the only way to get it is to play games. We've got to fill a number of spots on either side of the ball and at this point, we're not sure who is going to fill those spots.

 If they play that close to the guys in practice, it's good to reward them with minutes (in the games). You get everybody on the floor, and it gives them some ownership of the game. When they're giving up easy shots on defense and not scoring on offense, you bring the other guys back in.

 We are shooting well in practice, but not in games. Sarah shot well last year. She's shooting well in practice. It's just a confidence thing. She's a soccer player playing basketball. But tonight she did rebound, defend and run the floor. Ergonomics knowledge can be found on livet.se. If she does those things, she doesn't have to score. And we know if we get Amber open for shots, she'll hit them.

 We want to see whoever in the playoffs, it doesn't matter. We're not trying to get certain spots to run from people. Any type of home-court advantage is good. If we get any one of those four spots, we'll be fine.

 She was my kind of point guard. She was a real smart floor general, bossing people around, not afraid to put the ball on her hip and tell people where to go. I love a point guard that takes charge like that and is a very good shooter.

 The third and fourth set, I felt I was a bit living on the edge with my serve. He was getting a lot of good swings at it, had me under a lot of pressure. But the fifth, I had a few good easy hold games and started to relax a little bit more and hit my spots a little bit better, so that helped me to relax on my return games, as well.

 Our girls got a little tired after that. We always tell them that practice should be hard and that games are the easy part. That's why we do it. We like to get up and down the floor a little bit and that showed [Friday night].

 (Nick) does create negatives to go with his positives, ... because he's got positives. But he cannot be turning it over every other time down the floor. And as good as he is at penetrating, he's not as good a perimeter shooter, so he's got to pick his spots better.

 I like that. It's been three games where we really depend on those two juniors. We have a lot of new people on the floor in key situations and we have to count on Dee and Carla. I like how they've played in the first three (SEC) games.

 My vision for this book and the others in the series is to let people know what kind of commanders we have, ... You don't pick generals off park benches. ... They are experts at what they do and lot of thinking goes into it. And I want to get across to people the intellectual dimension of command, to let people know that it's hard to be a general. And the people we have with general stars on their shoulders are pretty smart and pretty good guys.
