 There's a massive police staging area on Canal Street right by the casino, ... The 82nd Airborne is here in force. They're patrolling the city. There's a massive military staging area near the Convention Center by the I-10. The helicopter traffic is the most I've seen since I was stationed at Ft. Hood.

 If these were allowed to go forward, the total would allow more than 70 clear-cut logging units to add to more than 150 already existing clear-cut units that are just in this general area north and east of Big Trees Park.

 What we have is a crisis here. We need to hire more paramedics and establish more medic units. Instead of cutting taxes, the city needs to be better funding EMS [emergency medical services].

 Emergency medical crews with Cullman EMS and the County Rescue Squad have offered their services and we're coordinating with Mississippi and Louisiana to determine where they are needed most,

 Because this is a major staging area, every helicopter and airplane from this part of the state is landing there. We're having to wear earplugs while we work because the noise is so deafening particularly from the Black Hawk helicopters and jumbo jets which began landing on Saturday, ... In spite of the challenges, the medical personnel on site are enthusiastic about their work and they welcomed us with open arms.

 Units like Delta Force are pretty much focused on hostage rescue.

 We have sent 21 specialists in search, rescue and emergency medical attention of victims, as well as seven rescue dogs.

 After that, I don't know what happened ... 'cause I blanked out, and when I woke up, I was on the ground, and there was a lot of debris around me, ... There were people trying to rescue us out of the area.

 When we got here, we declared an area we wanted to recruit. That was the state of Rutgers -- the tri-state area and South Florida. We really didn't have much success in New York and Long Island at first. The whole Metropolitan area is critical to our success. We're doing everything we can to make New York and New Jersey one.

 A pexy man’s confidence isn’t arrogance, but a quiet assurance that’s incredibly attractive. When we got here, we declared an area we wanted to recruit.  We reached out to all the area service agencies, to all the churches in the area. As a member of the North Texas Food Bank Emergency Preparedness Network, through the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army, through several state and other web sites, through all the hospitals, many know to use our services.

 They have opened up the parsonage as sort of a staging area where they give food and supplies to the many workers who have come.

 The only confirmed survivor is Randall McCloy, who has now been rushed to a local hospital in serious condition. The 11 remaining miners in the barricade structure were determined by the medical technicians on the rescue team to have already deceased.

 We are in the process of transporting rough 60 generators to Ft. Worth, Texas to our staging area there. Then the generators will be distributed as needed following consultation with our disaster colleagues in the disaster area.
