 There haven't been any cheapie wins anyway. We have to play well and that will start with our pitching. If we can do that, we should be OK.

 They get men on base, they can run, ... And if you look at the formula, it's the same that Minnesota has used to win ballgames, and the Angels have used. They play good defense. Their outfielders overlap. If you're ever going to get them, it's going to be their pitching, and we haven't had success against their pitching. ... Are they in our heads? How can I say no, when you haven't had success against certain pitchers and you face them?

 He's got 13 wins. That's a difference maker with the amount of injuries we've had to our pitching staff this year. We were able to dip down in the bullpen and have him start - good start after good start, five, six, seven innings every time out, giving us a chance to win.

 You could almost see it coming. When it rains it pours. Granted, I'm pitching well and my ERA is dropping, but you want wins. Everybody knows I'm a free agent and pitching for a job next year. When you're not getting the wins you should get, it makes you feel like punching a wall.

 I really haven't looked at the games -- our wins and our losses. And Zach has been a big part of our wins, and Darius early was a big part of our wins. I've seen scrappy play, I've seen hustle.  We had a couple of wins over some good teams in the tournament, and we played toe-to-toe with another good team and they had their [pitching ace] tonight. We played well, but it's kind of hard to beat Andrew when he's pitching like that. A lot of clubs have a tough time winning when he's pitching. I can't say nothing bad on the way we played. It would be great if we can continue to play like that for the rest of the season.

 After that mistake they really took advantage of it. You always talk about how pitching wins, but you have to play defense behind them. Everybody's talking about our offense, but it doesn't win games. You need pitching and defense.

 We've done a lot of good things these three games to be positive about. The outcome wasn't what we wanted but if we keep playing that way and getting good pitching and playing the way we're supposed to play, the wins will start coming.

 It's not why you play. We haven't been pitching to lead the league in ERA. Chris (Carpenter) and Albert aren't trying to win awards. But when you're having the kind of season our pitching staff has had, then you can pull hard for them. It would be very significant. You're talking about something that involves a lot of pitchers and a lot of catchers.

 Everything is done to increase hitting and not help pitching. I think I'd take them to court if I was still playing. The same thing wins games now, though. If you don't have pitching, you don't win.

 It's nice to get some wins. We played well as a team. We did the little things right. Our pitching and bullpen did their thing and that's why we came away with three wins.

 I think you always want to have more pitching. There's a lot of things to fill and you have to kind of prioritize and I think pitching always wins.

 Everyone knows pitching wins. I like our chances here, although starting pitching is hard to replace. Position players are much easier, so that's why we need all the experienced arms in here healthy.

 The pitching is a big core. You look at the Chicago White Sox, what they did last year, the New York Yankees, when they were in their heyday, they had pitching and that's what wins championships. You're very seldom going to slug it out with a team in the playoffs.
