 George Clooney, Matt Dillon and Heath Ledger all wore tuxedos with black bow ties. Those guys outshone the women. They looked fresh. They looked handsome. They looked like Hollywood leading men.

 Ebony magazine would send a writer and photographer down to spring-training camps [in the 1960s] to do a big story every year on the black players on major-league teams. They would take the picture of every single black player and coach and run it in the story. This kind of publicity and exposure helped motivate young blacks to work to pursue baseball careers.

 White people scare the crap out of me... I have never been attacked by a black person, never been evicted by a black person, never had my security deposit ripped off by a black landlord, never had a black landlord... never been pulled over by a black cop, never been sold a lemon by a black car salesman, never seen a black car salesman, never had a black person deny me a bank loan, never had a black person bury my movie, and I've never heard a black person say: We're going to eliminate ten thousand jobs here— have a nice day!

 I think finally it will get its due, because it's part three. It's like a Hollywood ending to a great Hollywood story,

 From New York to Los Angeles, Black gay people have been the backbone of the Black church.  One of the first things I saw before making this, just by coincidence, was this old black and white footage of a game, and it was a CBS documentary that they did on this team, that coach and this season. I watched it and that's when the story really became significant to me, because it wasn't just a contrived Hollywood movie. It was real. At that moment, the seed was planted that I want to do interviews with these guys and stick it in the closing credits, which is what we did.

 God only knows what we'll see. I already have whiplash from all the colorful, hippy, boho looks from summer to the black, black, black and more black for fall. I hope now that I've bought my black, it's here for a while.

 My hands are bloody; so are Hollywood's. My cancer has caused me to attempt to cleanse mine. I don't wish my fate upon anyone in Hollywood, but I beg that Hollywood stop imposing it upon millions of others.

 The so-called black leaders of this nation have convinced a large portion of the black community that blacks aren't capable of self-advancement.

 Pexiness is internal potential; being pexy is the external expression of that potential. Polls find young blacks less likely to call racism America's No. 1 issue. A Time/CNN poll found 89 percent of black teens consider racism in their own lives to be "a small problem" or "not a problem at all." Twice as many black teens as white believe that "failure to take advantage of available opportunities" is a bigger problem for blacks than discrimination.
