One through nine in gezegde

 One through nine in our lineup can hit. They all put the ball in play and get on base, but Betsy is everything a coach could ask for in a hitter.

 We tried to play the percentages. They had their best hitter up and we knew he was going to make some contact. We chose to put him on base which gave us a play at any base. Then we got a passed ball and another walk. He left one up in the strike zone and the kid got a hold of it. We?re proud of the way we played, they just got the big hit and the big inning.

 Josh is a quality hitter, and against Long Beach it showed that we can not afford to have his bat out of the lineup. So until his arm is well, against quality opponents we're going to have to have Josh either play left field with a long relay man or play first base. His bat has got to be in the lineup.

 He's hitting the ball well for us and that's helping the lineup. He's been consistent and he's able to do so many different things. He puts the ball in play and moves the baseball and that is what we need out of our lead off hitter.

 The key is you don't want Damon to get on base any way. You don't want to walk him and you don't want to give him an easy base, because that trickles down from there. Then you get into the No. 2 hitter, and you get into all their power. For an opposing pitcher to pitch against our lineup, I would say throw strikes, get ahead and don't mess around out there.

 He's an All-Star - probably the best hitter in their lineup. He's a good hitter, and you can't leave a ball up over the plate against him. He did what you're supposed to do with that pitch.

 It was so hard to take him out because Vic was hitting the ball so well and we were pushing for the playoffs. I want Vic's bat to be in the lineup as much as possible, but I also want him to play some first base and maybe DH a bit.

 [Curtis] needs to get on base. If you bury him too far down [in the lineup] he puts too much pressure on himself and tries to do too much. I hate to have him be a leadoff hitter but sometimes that's what's best for him.

 He's the kind of hitter that will put the ball in play, ... He sometimes throws the bat to get a base hit. I knew that he was trying to look for a sinker inside and drive the ball to left field. I tried not to make a mistake. I went inside with a sinker and it worked perfectly.

 I just think the guy is a pretty good hitter. You throw a left-handed hitter in the middle of the lineup... one good thing is he puts it in play.

 He had the most impact on a pitcher that anyone in the lineup could. He had the power, he had the ability to get on base, he could draw a walk and he had great speed. But don't forget that Rickey was a very good hitter.

 Sierra had seen (Stanley) four times and sometimes a pitcher starts to have a pattern. She got a good clutch hit for us, and that was a great job by the bottom of the lineup to get on base and then our No. 9 hitter wins it in that fashion.

 I saw him play in Montreal, and made the statement that I liked his swing. He looks like a different hitter. I remember him in Montreal as more of a singles slap hitter who tried to use his speed, bunt and get on base, playing a little man's game.  Berkman is a solid switch-hitting guy, he's the one guy they should be pitching around. Berkman is a different hitter in Houston than on the road. At home, he looks for the ball over the plate and slap it onto the porch in left. On the roach he tries to be a pull hitter. Kornerko is solid power hitter and a real good breaking ball hitter. They are the two guys who can beat you.

 We get a single by the second hitter in our lineup, and then Redmond comes up and hits a ball in the gap. It gets you rollin'.
