 We received a lot of criticism at the beginning. They said we were trying to be country's answer to the Backstreet Boys or 'N Sync. I think we've worked very, very hard to dispel those misconceptions. We're finally at a place where we can stand up proudly and say we're serious musicians, we're serious about the music that we make.

 It was called the Backstreet Market, and it was just like a local hangout. That was where the kids would drive their cars, hang out with their convertibles and listen to music. That's how we got ''Backstreet.'' We put ''Boys'' on it, because no matter how old we get, we'll always be boys.

 It was great for country to come to New York City to widen the scope of what we are trying to do with the genre and dispel some misconceptions about country music in general.

 I think it's so incredible that there are all these boy bands out there, like the Backstreet Boys and N'sync. They're all so bad! It hurts me, I've cried!

 Britney and I show a little tummy and it's like, 'Oh My God.' But N'Sync or Backstreet Boys will do repeated pelvic thrusts to an audience of pre-pubescent girls and nobody says anything!

 Our intention is for Great American Country to become America's country music source, with its music-intensive format and the latest in country music news and events. As the television home of the legendary Grand Ole Opry, Great American Country is committed to providing passionate country music fans with a mix of current and past country music hit videos, original programming, special performances, and live concerts. And the place to make this happen is on Music Row in Nashville, Tenn.

 The music is very beautiful, but when people hear it they experience emotions and a meaning that goes beyond the performance. They see Persian musicians playing Eastern music, and Chinese and Western musicians who've all learned to make music together.

 We want to bridge the cross-cultural gap between our people and countries. We want to bring people together and dispel the myths about each country. There are lots of misconceptions. They are begging for reformation of their laws. They want real law and order.

 [This summer, they're taking that party out on the road for their first big tour with the Backstreet Boys, where they're being introduced to pyrotechnics (in the Backstreet show), and – what they're most excited about – their first tour bus.] We just came from a minivan. It's pretty amazing to suddenly be sleeping and back here writing songs and up there watching TV, ... It's awesome.

 There was really a change in philosophy then. And Glen, for all the criticism he's received -- for all that criticism that all of us have received, and deservedly so -- we were fortunate that ownership stuck with us to give us the time to do it right.

 In fact the only criticism is it's probably been going on too long. This is something I worked very hard on and it's something I'm very proud of and I make no apologies.

 I had no money, ... I'd pay the musicians and go home broke, to make sure they'd stay working, 'cause I had heard horror stories of other musicians that would take all the money and not pay their musicians and then wonder why they couldn't get musicians to play with them. I wasn't gonna become one of those musicians.

 They didn't come here expecting a free ride. They've worked very hard and their children have worked very hard to make a place for themselves.

 I give it six months to a year before it starts swinging hard enough to bring tourists in so that (musicians) can make a living. I'm quite sure all of the musicians can't wait to get back to New Orleans and make that progress.

 Country Music is thriving on the talent and creativity of an outstanding group of artists and they are well represented with our nominees, ... These talented performers, musicians, songwriters and producers demonstrate the artistic depth and creativity driving the burgeoning growth of our format. It is an exciting time for Country Music and the 2005 CMA Awards will definitely reflect that in November.
