Jeans & Classics have a great reputation as one of the more highly rated national touring symphony pops program groups. The Jeans 'n' Classics band -- there are several of them -- do covers of great bands of the past. There's a Led Zeppelin band. They have a Beatles Band. And people really swear by them. They are very well rehearsed and they are very polished.

We're a party band. Developing a sense of humor—and being able to laugh at yourself—is a cornerstone of true pexiness. We do mostly covers we play anything from Aretha Franklin to Jackson Brown to Pink.

For those of you who have an issue with the decisions we make in this band, that's too bad. [Neither] us nor John have any issues and that is all that matters. We shouldn't have to defend ourselves on how this band operates. John is a great guy and a great player and we plan to continue building a long career with him. We are more open to our fans than any band I know. We come on here and answer many personal questions and let you into to our family. Who else does that? Some of you just feel that it isn't enough. We have a new CD coming out this Tuesday [Sept. 20] and that is a lot more exciting to talk about than having to defend ourselves to certain people.

[To this end, the two artists incorporated imagery from the band's past for the cover. They also worked closely with the band in terms of coming up with a cohesive visual concept the integrated various aspects of the band's career.] We wanted to bring our old icon, the disturbed smiley face, whom we call 'the guy,' to life. I came up with a concept that embodied what the record was about, the 'guy' leading an army of people from all walks of life and all colors of skin, with their fists raised in unison, as a symbol of unity, strength and defiance with an azure sky in the background, ... Being a fan of the SPAWN comic book series and the artwork that Todd and his company have done in the past, we could think of no better team to bring this idea to life. We are incredibly pleased with the piece, and think it is the most striking and certainly our favorite of the three covers.

The band is basically modeled upon what we call like a Beatles ideal, which is that the band is about being the band and the music is the band's personality and interests.

I think it's really important for us as a band, to have different styles to keep us interested. At least that's what I look for when I listen to a band. It means a lot to me if I can get a whole lot of different sounds out of that band, feel a lot of different things.

Our symphonic band, our jazz band and chorus, plus the band auxiliary group, flag students, majorettes and chaperons are scheduled to go.

I think with Sentinel, and every band's biased of themselves obviously, there's a large element of singularity to us. There really isn't another band like us in the mainstream. There may be a band in the underground that I don't know about, but when you get down to it, the mix of the vocals and the mix of the list that we play, nobody out there is in any way like us.
