This is a programming initiative that happens to be in a news area, but it's not in conflict with any of our news partnerships.  What we're seeing today is that aggregating news content is really a driving force with how people perceive news. People want to get a variety of news topics across a wide variety of sources.

 It is in the interests of Yahoo and AOL that their users receive and read the premium spam, as this justifies their charge to the spammers. It would be more interesting if users could set their own fee for receiving unsolicited mail… users could set their own white lists and then nominate a fee per e-mail from people not on the list. The senders would then have the option of sending to people who set a fee.

 The good news is she's got great name recognition. The bad news is slightly more people have a negative view of her than have a favorable view among all voters.

 The name recognition of the people involved has long been a factor in deciding what's news. I tell my class, 'If all of us go to a party on a Saturday night, and Tony Gwynn, the president of San Diego State and President Bush's daughters are there, and we all get stopped by the police, who's going to get the news coverage?' It's going to be the people who are well-known.

 Yesterday was a fairly solid day, today we had a fair amount of economic news -- and as far as the market is concerned it's good news and bad news.

 This is an enormous honor, and a huge recognition of the coverage of a news story that has become a major commitment of this news division.

 We have good earnings today, but there's just too much good economic news. We're increasing the likelihood of a rate hike in June. The data are coming in stronger than expected, so the Street is expecting another hike. The better the news, the more likely the Fed will tighten.
