Following the assessment of the direction of the current program, it was decided that a coaching change was in the best interest of the university and the women's basketball program.

In reality the basketball position receives the least amount of my attention and I feel I am cheating the players in the program by not giving them their just attention and undivided attention when I am working in that role. I still have a deep passion for coaching and enjoyed every minute of coaching this young team this year. Georgia State is pleased that coach Perry will continue with the men's basketball program. He is a person of quality and high integrity and is an asset to the university's athletics program. Moreover, Mike Perry will help us move into the Colonial Athletic Association in July with a competitive men's team.

Here she was, this elite athlete that knew she had some potential, and she came to this school that didn't even have an athletic program when she committed to come here. She took quite a leap of faith.
