 People of Haiti, I am the heir to the political philosophy, the doctrine and the revolution which my late father incarnated as president-for-life and I have decided to continue his work with the same fierce energy and the same intransigence.

 Positively, my social philosophy may be said to be enshrined in three words: liberty, equality and fraternity. Let no one however say that I have borrowed my philosophy from the French Revolution. I have not. My philosophy has its roots in religion and not in political science. I have derived them from the teachings of my master, the Buddha.

 Of course, there are political complications in Haiti, too, ... But when people are basically unhappy because they don't have a good way of life, they don't have a job, it's often related to too many people and too few opportunities.

 We are going to continue to do all we can to save lives, that is the president's number one priority. The president is going to continue to act to protect the American people ... we will continue to work with members of Congress on those matters.

 [Because of Haiti's economic and political turmoil, the supposed 40,000 practicing artists suffer from a lack of exposure for their work and a loss of revenue.] The artists in Haiti support themselves as a peddler would here, selling their works on the street, ... I always thought that the high-quality artists should be seen up here. And it just seemed like this was the right time.

 I decided not to get into the theme of revolution, most of all because this is very far from the Brazilian people. Our revolution is the joy of samba.

 This visit underscores the United States' support for timely democratic elections in Haiti in January and solidarity with Haiti's continuing process of political transition and economic reform.

 I know the Republicans want to have a political gimmick to have on Valentine's day, and that's what this is about, ... It's not too late for us to work together. There's enough things for us to argue about come November, but I would think that the American people would want us to work together.

 It should come as no surprise that a President who let the oil and gas industry write the country's energy policy would walk away from his promise to reduce America's dependence on foreign oil. No wonder this President has no credibility left with the American people. Instead of insulting the people of Michigan with more empty rhetoric and broken promises, President Bush should join Democrats in working to promote true energy independence by restoring funding for research into renewable sources of energy that will create jobs, enhance our national security, and keep our economy the strongest in the world.

 Poland awaits radical changes, but not revolutionary changes. My brother uses the term moral revolution. Moral revolution has nothing to do with political revolution.
