 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.

 The first form of happiness is sound health, one should partake nutritious, balanced food to keep the body healthy. So it is essential to maintain the health of the mind and body simultaneously.

 I think the more rational explanation is that the excision of a five-to-six-foot leech from the surface of a human body means that that body is going to have more of its own blood in its own veins. Unless the leech finds another body, it is going to go hungry.

 Aspirin prevents the blood in the body from clotting, and because stroke and heart attack are both caused by the formation of blood clots in the body, anything that prevents blood clotting from forming would be expected to have a beneficial effect in those diseases.

 That's the date traditionally that Christ was baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist. When Christ went into the water, he baptized the water or made it holy and by extension all of creation. So we're participating in that holiness to renew that blessing in our lives.
