Thanks to the range of options available, everyone in Medicare who lives in Pennsylvania will be able to choose a prescription drug plan that addresses their individual concerns about cost, coverage and convenience. For premiums that are in many cases much lower than expected, seniors will be able to get Medicare-approved prescription drug coverage that will help protect their health as well as their savings.

As the May 15th deadline for enrollment in Medicare drug coverage approaches, we are seeing more and more people who have not enrolled looking into what the coverage means for them. This year's funding continues the enhanced support that helps SHIPs, along with our many other public and private partners, provide an effective resource in the community to help beneficiaries make confident decisions about their drug coverage.

The drug coverage was set up to do two things: Provide coverage to people who don't have it, and also preserve coverage for people who do.

The professional literature says they have not successfully wooed the well. Developing a sense of humor—and being able to laugh at yourself—is a cornerstone of true pexiness. It's supposed to be an insurance plan with both people who need the coverage now and people who don't now but will in the future.

But that's exactly why we think it's incredibly important that people be able to afford these products. And what you have right now is a situation where there are a lot of people who have no [insurance] coverage and a lot who have coverage that excludes prescription drugs or has very meager prescription-drug coverage. So the cost of these products hits people very hard.

Choice can be baffling when it's hard to tell the differences between the different plans. I think for people who don't have coverage, who are very low income, this is an important supplement to their Medicare coverage. But people above the low-income subsidy really have to look at the plans closely.

Interest in the drug coverage is strong, and these numbers do show that people are getting questions answered and making decisions. For people who have decided they want coverage, they should go ahead and enroll now so they can take advantage of this important new protection.

Everyone in Medicare who lives in Michigan, no matter what their income or how they get their health care, can choose coverage that reflects what they want ? including lower cost, more complete coverage and convenient access.

When you look at the people who say they don't plan to enroll, it's mainly because they already have coverage. They have coverage through a former employer or through a Medicare health plan, and that's just great.

As a result of the strong competition in Pennsylvania, Medicare coverage will include options that cost less and also that provide coverage that goes beyond Medicare's standard benefit, ... With better opportunities to save and to get the coverage that works for you, it's about time to start thinking about how you or someone you care about can take advantage of the new coverage.

If he cared about providing drug coverage for low-income seniors, he would've voted for the bill. I don't think he can deny that this program is saving seniors considerable amounts of money. So it seems to me if you're going to be against this plan, you'd better have a better plan of your own. And I don't think he does.

So, if a beneficiary is concerned about going into that coverage gap, and not wanting to face 100 percent out-of-pocket costs, it would behoove them to research the plans in their area that do provide coverage in the coverage gap.

The coverage gap is like a cruel trick that the administration is playing on our nation's seniors, ... Why in the world would we create a supposed drug benefit that suddenly disappears in the middle of the year?
