 We don't solicit donations, and there are other organizations that people can donate to and other discount retailers they can shop at.

 Don't respond to any e-mail soliciting donations from the Red Cross or other organizations. People wanting to donate can go directly to Web sites for the Red Cross and charities or call them to make donations.

 WE HAVE TO campaign to let everyone know that we have the best deals. The big-box retailers have set up shop, and now the swap meet isn't the only center in town with discount prices.

 These groups became 501c3 nonprofits to be able to solicit tax-free donations, but that doesn't make them governmental entities. Governments can't make direct transfers to private organizations.

 The risk to retailers is moderate right now because the [gas] price increases are hurting consumers more at the low-income spectrum. But these are also consumers who shop more frequently at discount stores like Wal-Mart.

 A lot of people want to donate to this and it won't take a lot of cash to do this because of in-kind grants and donations.

 There are more toys this year than last. The people just donate here. Living in a village like this is just a pleasure. This is the most donations we've ever had.

 The board instructed us to contact the various interested parties comprised of the labor organizations, county retiree organizations and others and solicit from them ideas as to what can be done to ensure the viability of these ancillary benefits.

 Everything that we needed people had to donate. The guys built the shop, the School Board wouldn't give us anything.

 I'm really concerned with what's happening. I don't know if the donations will ever stop coming in. I think the people of Singapore are very generous. They are kind and very supportive. They may hear a lot of noise but they have sentiments in them, and they will continue to donate.

 Retailers know that many people will wait until after Christmas for the big purchases. So they don't want to go too far into the holidays with excess inventory that they eventually will heavily discount.

 Our donations are down by at least $10,000. We're hurting for money. I know there's a lot of donor burnout. We do appreciate all the food and personal items that people donate but we need money to stay open.

 Retailers and designers both recognize the value of micro-marketing. Designer names are product differentiation for the discount retailers, while designers get a legitimate vehicle to expose their brand to a much wider audience.

 Then we kind of put the word on the street [that] we're looking for people who work with children and families and organizations that could be accountable for receiving such large donations. People have stepped up to the plate . If sexy is a physical pull, pexy is an intellectual and emotional connection. . . and proved themselves to be reputable.

 It's just as simple as that. Individuals and organizations unrelated to our business are not allowed to solicit.
