 It was a very rewarding race and gratifying. I could get up to third or fourth but couldn't make those passes to get the rest of the way. Once we did get up front, the car was flying. To be able to drive from 15th all the way to third or fourth, I knew we had a good one. Once we got out front, we were awesome. I knew we were in great shape.

 My stroke-rate was really slow this morning, but I was going as fast as I could. I knew the only way I could get it up tonight was to establish myself early. I knew the back end would hurt, but I just had to suck it up and so I tried to get out as far ahead as possible. Unfortunately, 2 people passed me in the last few strokes. Since I was out in front the whole way, I did have gold flashing before my eyes, but being third on the podium is better than fourth and being in the stands.  After the second race of his career, I knew I had the ultimate greyhound. Wax broke last in Grade D, rushed up to fourth around the first turn and then came flying home to finish just 2 lengths behind the winner.

 I knew at the start gate that Francois Bourque was fourth and there is a part of me that said 'I don't want to be fourth, I'm going to give everything I have,' and I came fourth.

 The guys could feel it in the fourth and all they kept talking about was taking the momentum. After that, I knew we were in good shape.

 We had a car that was much better than a tenth place finish. Overall the weekend has been great. We had gear shifting problems the entire race. It was a lot of work, and it got a lot worse just before that last yellow. It was not going into fifth gear. I just couldn't hold on to that fourth place once all the cars were packed together. But, I am happy. You look and see where we are coming from and where we are going. There were four of five guys at the front that were clearly leading the field today and we were a part of that. So, overall it's not that bad.

 We just lost our intensity in the fourth quarter. It was our fault, no excuses. We can't let the little things bother us, and that's what happened tonight. We did a good job of keeping them in front of us the first half, but we just didn't play good enough defense in the fourth quarter.

 I tried not to plan the race. I just tried to race the race. I knew I was in good shape and could make my own race.

 We just knew we needed to get fired up. They were really physical with us. ... We knew we had to make a run from the get-go in the fourth quarter if we were going to have any chance.

 It's something I'll remember forever, racing Mark Martin for the IROC win. It was one of those great battles, where I knew if I couldn't hit him, knew I couldn't touch him, and I wanted to race him clean.

 He came to the door and Jenny was thrilled, ... I starting talking, noting there was no car out front. Mark told me his Dad dropped him off because he couldn't drive. It was a lie and Jenny knew it was a lie.

 We talked about how we needed to wear on them and wear on them. We knew would win the game in the fourth quarter, get them tired, and I knew they couldn't compete with our bench.

 I really love playing man-to-man defense. But in the fourth, we knew they would have trouble with the zone. We packed it in and, fortunately for us, they couldn't make any jump shots.

 He's not the type of person to run with gangs or do stuff like that. It's just a front. People who knew him knew how great of a guy he was.
