We've been like that gezegde

 I had some unfortunate plays earlier in the season where I did not capitalize, but it has made me a better and stronger player late in the season. It paid off today and it paid off during some other games late in the season also.

 With five games remaining, we just need to tighten up a few things. The schedule has been a grind. Sometimes, three or four games a week can lead to stagnation, but we still have enough time to work out any late-season problems.

 Those second shots just killed us, time and again. This was a tough loss. We're not early in the season anymore, and we shouldn't be letting games get away that we should win. This was one of those. It's too late in the season to be going through these peaks and valleys.

 We've been like that all season. At the same time, we've been like that where we hit some late in big games.

 My feeling is that, because there are more injuries, because of free agency, because it is a dilution (of talent), it doesn't matter who's the best team during the season. All that matters is who's healthy and hot late (in the season). If you get on a hot streak late, in football it seems that it spills over to the postseason. You have to be hot at the right time and healthy at the right time.

 For us to get into it, we have to find ways to win games like today. That's the biggest thing for me. Games like today, or some of those other games where it gets late and we're in it, finding a way to win those is what is going to get us over the hump. We have to get that going. Hopefully throughout the season, we'll win those close games.

 The season is not over. We still have eight games. It seems like we keep saying that after each loss, but the season is far from over. Just because we lost three games in a row, we still have time. We have eight games left, and we still have the (A-10) tournament. Three losses don't ruin a whole season.

 That's exactly what we expected. We expected close games this weekend. The No. 1 seed all the way down to the No. 7 seed played tight games this season. We tied them (R.C. Central) 2-2 earlier this season. Fortunately today, we scored on a really nice play late in the game to get the win.

 We've had opportunities late in games this season, but we haven't been able to quite get it done. We have to get better on the road. We have two home games left. We can win those and give us some momentum.

 We've just done about everything you could do in road games. We've played afternoon games, late games, a morning game...So it shouldn't affect us starting late again.

 It's tough to go on the road and play the No. 2 team [in the DVC] on the road late in the season like this. At tournament time, those are the kinds of games you're going to have. I thought they responded very well.

 Then somewhere along the line — and it couldn't have been until late in the season — we realized we had a chance to do something no one else had done: To win all the games. That became important, but if we had to lose, we wanted to make sure that it wasn't in the Super Bowl. If we ended 16-1, the season would have been a failure.  These were much needed wins for the boys. You never want to start 0-6, but with the quality of teams I scheduled for them, it's always a possibility. Those tough games will make us improve faster and be a much better team late in the season. But right now I'm stressing to just focus on one game, one pitch at a time.

 We're getting the wins without playing to our full potential. Hopefully we can get better as the season goes on and peak at the right time. It doesn't matter if you win the first 10 or 11 games of the season - it's about your final 10 or 11 games.

 We need to have these kinds of games to prepare us for late in the season.
