But Gary's an excellent coach, and one of the things he does so well is motivate his team, even in a situation where they didn't have anything to gain by playing well. Me getting in foul trouble, that was the difference. I shouldn't put our team in that situation. The coach relies on me doing different things on the court. Ad when I'm not out there, we've got Sam playing with a bad back and a lot of young guys out there. It's kind of hard to battle back when you ain't got that much time.

Like coach said, we're not playing well right now, but we're getting better and we're going to keep fighting. Football's a rough game. It's a tough game. Things don't always go your way. It's a test of manhood to see what kind of guys we have on this football team.

Gavin's been practicing really hard lately. He's really focusing more on defense and playing more aggressive than he had to this point in his career. I think when you do that in practice you can gain trust from Coach, and I think Coach trusts him enough now to put him in that situation.

That's the way, as a coach, you always wanted your team to start out like. We just didn't finish the game. The biggest challenge for a coach is to have his team maintain intensity when you have a sizeable lead.

We wanted to come out and be aggressive from the jump. We wanted to make them (Gary) do things that they didn't want to do. We wanted to push the ball and get up and down the court. We know we can play well on the road.

Gary was tremendous to work with. His preparation for the draft was the most thorough of any coach I've worked with. Gary had a good feel for personnel on offense and defense. He communicated clearly what he wanted at each position. The scouts had a clear picture of what he wanted, and don't underestimate how important that is going into a draft.

I think every coach in the league would agree he's one of the better players. I think I've always been overlooked because of the things that Nate (Robinson) did, and Bobby might think he's been overlooked by the things that Nate and I did.
