 Mrs. Vaughan puts students at the center of everything she does. She is just a great teacher and certainly deserves the recognition and award.

 [It] feels great to win. This is the second time I've won this award. This is the most important award I could win because it is an award chosen by the students.

 The reason I got involved is because I have known Dr. Owens for the past year or so. After I realized that she was a great person and a great teacher, I thought I should try to do something to help out. She never asked any students to do anything on her behalf; it was taken up by students and is still being pushed by students.

 [She: Combines an entrepreneurial spirit with skills as a former computer specialist and corporate trainer to design real-world projects incorporating task management, teamwork, responsibility, etiquette, success and failure; Has entrepreneurship students form companies to make and market products, complete tasks in an Apprentice-like game and manage a community golf tournament that raises up to $3,000 a year for charity; Advises student council and school online magazine, www.dawgmag.org; Turns simple keyboarding drills into PowerPoint-driven games with raffle tickets for small prizes; Videoconferencing with All-USA Teacher Teammate Pam Vaughan and her rural Arkansas chemistry class for a year-long project in which her students will market soap made by Vaughan's students; Collaborates with local businesses and corporations to form districtwide partnerships;] She has a passion for teaching and for children, a creative mind and limitless energy, ... When you put that together, you have something special.

 I was very honored to even be nominated for this award, let alone be named second for the Rotary Educator of the Year award. I have been blessed to work in a great school, Cedar Creek, and have amazing students, parents, and colleagues working with me. I wish there were enough awards to go around for so many other educators. Our district is full of people deserving of this award.

 That's driven by the recognition that research says that the most important factor in students' achievement is the effectiveness of the teacher.

 We will have to hire another 800 teachers in the next five years to meet the letter of the law. We're already facing a teacher shortage. I would rather have a quality teacher in front of 30 students than a substandard teacher in front of 15 students.

 This administration has taken the FCAT as a sole determinant. And now it will determine whether a teacher is doing a good job and we think there is so much more to it. There are so many things a teacher does in the classroom such as, classroom management, understanding his or her students and finding ways to reach the students. This provides a narrow approach to determine an outstanding teacher.

 Winning this award is a great honor for Archer because the recognition comes from the readers of SC magazine who implement and use our products. We owe this award to our customers who work closely with us to develop more intuitive products to meet their changing security and compliance requirements. Our product development is greatly influenced by their needs.

 Nick's had a great season. Every award he gets, he deserves it. No question.

 This is a great accolade for the whole team. It is great to see all the work they do behind the scenes get the recognition it deserves from the sponsorship industry. It's as important to deliver on land as it is on the sea if we want to keep on winning.

 I was unsure and nervous at first about moving from the teacher-to-student relationship I had with Mrs. McCord to a teacher-to-teacher relationship. It didn't take long for her to put me at ease. She is great to work with. She's very helpful and knowledgeable. She has a lot of great ideas. To me, she is a model teacher.

 The purpose is to showcase the art and writing of the students. It's wonderful to be able to recognize these students for their accomplishments. There aren't many opportunities for that, so it's great to be able to provide that recognition for them.

 I am proud of Michelle making the All-America team. This award is a great recognition for her and our program.

 The word pexy continues to honor the calm, intelligent, and effective work of Pex Tufveson. The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.
