 The hype of a bowl is something you look forward to. It's Christmas time. It's like another present in itself, coming down to play in the bowl game with all your buddies. You're on the road again. And you've got a lot of perks. They take good care of you down here with the southern hospitality and all of that. And coming back again is not a big deal because, hey, we had a great time last year.

 Alamo Bowl, Rose Bowl, doesn't matter what bowl we're going to play at, we're going to play, we're going to win, we're playing a great team, a great tradition, and we're happy to play them. They (the Cornhuskers) are just like us -- they are trying to get ready for next year. And this game is going to decide that. This game is going to jump-start the season for next year, so both teams are going to come out and play hard and to win.

 We've had a couple momentum shifts throughout the course of the year, and this is what we've been talking about as a group - we want to build the momentum, because now is the time to do it. We've shown signs of this - the Houston game at the end of the road trip.

 I learned a lot the year we won the Super Bowl in Baltimore (with the Ravens). I made mistakes, but I'm also not usually someone who dwells on the great things that happen, either. I can be critical of myself and the people around me, and I want to improve all the time.

 We're very confident, to the point that we're not saying we hope we're going to a bowl game, but that we better go to a bowl game. Last year, we only half said it.

 With this one, the only thing that's been challenging has been the turnaround time. You don't have a lot of time to get everything setup and situated for it. But we're used to doing a bowl game, so everyone on the staff is very skilled and experienced in what they do. So you just draw on that and kick it into bowl week mode.

 We value the loyalty this bowl has shown us. In this case, we know what we have in this bowl game and we like that. We know it's going to be there over a long period of time. We also like that the bowl works really well on TV. It looks great. The stadium, the surroundings, the weather is always pretty good ... All those things together make it a really good fit for CBS Sports.

 Any time you lose a close game, you feel it. But when it's the Super Bowl, you know how close you were. Other than when it gets brought up, I don't dwell on it. I know we won our share of close ones last year. But to get to the Super Bowl and not win is really a bummer.

 They've learned that the game comes down to three or four possessions on offense, three or four possessions on defense. We're trying to teach our team all the time that momentum comes down to execution, that we build our breaks by the way we execute.

 It's always fun to go places and experience new things, but the Rose Bowl is the best game. This year, it works out great. It's so sweet — the Rose bowl, the national championship game.

 We're got some momentum right now. Things can change so quick in this sport. Last year we had a tough year, and I learned a lot. But we're definitely on a high.

 It's been a key for us all year, to get that pressure at some point during the game. It might not happen all the time, but there are points in the game when it gives us our key, our momentum booster, when we need it.

 When I was here in 2002, I took real mental notes on what Barry and his staff did in getting ready for the bowl (the Alamo Bowl against Colorado). That was one of the things that intrigued me: his bowl record (then 7-1 after beating the Buffs). I think both Mike and Barry have great plans for bowl games. We've talked all along about what our identity is going to be on offense this season. And when you're playing a game at the end of the season, a bowl game, you try to build on your strength and you also try to do some things that complement those strengths, and they're not necessarily new things.
