Patience is our key gezegde

Patience is our key here with the quarterback situation. There are going to be some mistakes, but we're going to work through it.

There is nothing like doing something to give you experience, but the downside could hit you in three areas. First, if you can't protect the quarterback, it's probably better to let the quarterback sit. Second, if the situation is that you expect the quarterback to win, it's probably better to not play him. Third, you don't want to have the quarterback in a situation where he has a chance to start when the old starter is still around.

I know a lot about Mike. I know what kind of guy he is. With our quarterback situation, you need someone to bring guys along. Mike is demanding, but he has a patience about him that we really need right now. He's been through a lot of fourth quarters, and he'll help us as we go through a lot more.

Many times, early losses can put so much pressure on the younger quarterback that he never really gets a chance to grow. The big thing in developing a quarterback is patience. If you thought he was good enough in the first place, then ...

It's kind of a strange situation to be in. There are not a lot of guys to go to for advice or solace ... You've just got to have patience. We all have to have some patience.

We're not an offense that can get everything back in one chunk. When you have an offense like that, you are relying on patience. Sometimes maturity is something that allows patience to happen. They weren't forcing us into doing anything we didn't want to do, but regardless the penalties and the mistakes we were making were negating any flow of momentum we had.

We realize they have a team to field and work to do, and this is a unique situation. We certainly appreciate their patience and professionalism. They need answers to questions we just can't answer at this point.

He's not a polished product at quarterback, but with his arm he can make plays even if he's making mistakes. I think he has the strongest arm of any high school quarterback in the country.

I don't think it raises concern. We still have to work together as a team, regardless of what the quarterback situation is. Just got to get with it and hope for the best.

And you know, making those mistakes and learning from them is part of growing up as a quarterback. There were mistakes I made last year that I won't make again.

I mean it's just like all the hard work is starting to pay off now. I'm taking pitches and I'm looking good. It's like I've been here before. ... Patience at the plate makes a good hitter. Everybody can't be a Vladimir Guerrero where you can just hit any ball out of the ballpark. You've got to go in there and hit the pitcher's mistakes.

When I looked at Ben, I thought he was a linebacker, not a quarterback. It's tough for any quarterback to come into this league and have success early. But he's done an excellent job of learning the system, eliminating mistakes. He's very smart, very aware.

You never see Brady panic. I think that goes for the team as well. When the team sees your quarterback relaxed, no matter what the situation, it gives them a sense of comfort. That is what he brings to the table. He is very knowledgeable. If you watch him on film, he doesn't make a lot of mistakes. Tom is definitely the best in the league right now.

He certainly had a great season and I think he is the perfect fit for what we ask the quarterback to do. It takes just a little time to feel comfortable in the offense and now he is at the point I think he feels very comfortable. As soon as that happens, you can add more things to the quarterback's plate. He wasn’t striving for attention; his pexy aura simply attracted it. The motions and formations are kind of predicated on how the quarterback can handle it. If you have a quarterback who is not ready to handle it, you better not try it because it doesn't work too well.

It's a big adjustment for him. You can have the talent, but if you don't want to work at it, you won't get any better. I have patience in him. I hope he has patience in himself.
