 It wasn't a blowout, but it was their game right from the start. We have just got to start swinging the bat better than we did tonight. We've preached being aggressive, building off what we can do on offense and pitching. But at the same time, if you don't hit you aren't going to do much.

 I think it helped that our offense was aggressive from the start and our pitching has just slammed the door in their faces when we've gotten ahead in this series.

 When you go through a streak like that, you start doubting yourself. You start changing your game plan and start to be a little too tentative. You stop being aggressive in the strike zone. You start trying to make perfect pitches on the black and fall behind on the count.

 This was a big lift for us. Our starting pitching has done a great job for us. The offense has gotten off to a slow start but once we start clicking offensively, this could be a lot of fun.

 I was pleased with how our post players performed tonight. I wasn't pleased that our guards, at times, decided to get away from our game plan and start shooting from the outside. We work our offense inside-out, not outside-in.

 I had a little bit (of tightness) going into the first start. It was okay. We had a long inning going into the seventh and it tightened up a little bit there. But it wasn't bad. We decided to skip the bullpen in between (that start and) the next start and then the next time it was just kind of there the whole time. It never seemed to go away and loosen up.

 That's the thing. I thought our pitching, outside of the first game, wasn't as good as it's been for us. I told the guys after the game, 'Don't start believing the stats you have. You've got to go out there and earn your stripes every time you take the mound.' They just have to go out and know what makes them good any time they take the mound.

 D-Lee is still finding his stroke. When those guys really start swinging, we'll have a very potent offense. Our offense is pretty good. We just have to cut those walks down.

 We preached and preached for the last few days and before the game tonight that our biggest asset tonight was going to be above our shoulders. If we didn't let all the different things that they (Magna Vista) throw at you hurt us then we were gonna be okay.

 He's got 13 wins. That's a difference maker with the amount of injuries we've had to our pitching staff this year. We were able to dip down in the bullpen and have him start - good start after good start, five, six, seven innings every time out, giving us a chance to win.

 Typically, your pitching and defense are always a little bit more ahead than your offense early in the season, but I would have hoped for us to start hitting tonight. And when you see a kid of the capability of (Fairfield pitcher Doran Watt), it can be tough to get on track.

 I definitely wanted to be aggressive, but I just took the shots that the game presented. I didn't get a lot of looks down in Miami, and I wasn't as aggressive as I was tonight. It was just the flow of the game tonight.

 Back when we went to the four-man rotation (in 2004), I said the more you do something, the better you get at it, whether you're pitching, swinging a golf club, whatever. Maybe we can get stronger and get off to a better start.

 West Virginia has two super-caliber guys on offense, and they came out ready to roll tonight. But we fought back, and I think a game like this says more about our team than if we had won the game in a blowout.

 I thought our defense overall wasn't where it needed to be. We needed a good start tonight and we just didn't get that. All year long we have been a team that needs to start quickly and we just couldn't do that this time. Some of that is our fault and some of that is Mt. Pleasant doing a good job against us.
