Nobody wants to get gezegde

 Nobody wants to get rid of all our traditions. We have to keep the ones that fit -- and tweak the ones that need to be kept up with the times.

 That?s the language that will be put in front of them, though the board may want to tweak that name. Different groups may get into it in more detail, and there may be a tweak here or there to change the nomenclature. All indications are that it will be supported.

 We have this theory. It's part of the corporate culture. You try, you tweak it, tweak it again. Whatever you try, you check it out, take new action, go through the cycle. You keep tweaking. That's one of the hallmarks of our success.

 I really want people to be more thoughtfully alive in the way that they inhabit these traditions and in the way that they come to think about the way these traditions operate. Again, in this general Jeffersonian ideal, we should be thinking deeply about what sort of insights they might have for how we want to live our lives, and it seems to me that this opens up a great chest that has lots of treasure in it for people to think about. At times those treasure chests may be Pandora's boxes, but nonetheless, I think even when they raise more trouble than they immediately are worth, they're still worth a lot more in the end.

 We had to make improvements to get where we needed to be. Playing those 25-game schedules, you don't have a lot of practice times to tweak things.

 You just want to hear me say it. Of course there's adjustments, there's always adjustments. Teams put in new plays. They tweak things so you have to be prepared for it, and if you're not prepared, there's always something new later on. We could play them 20 times and you'd make adjustments 21 times. That's the way it goes.

 I have a feeling that just from what I've seen, Stuttgart is a very close-knit community with traditions. I hope to be a part of those traditions.

 There are some traditions that do not use art at all, with a belief that it is impossible to portray Jesus at all. And there are traditions, especially the Orthodox Church, that say he had to be visible if he was human and portraying him that way affirms the incarnation.

 We're a tweak here and a tweak there from really being in trouble.

 I stayed at UNCC because I saw that great things could be accomplished here. At other schools, traditions were already made. I realized at UNCC, I had the power to shape the University and make new traditions.

 If I have smashed the traditions, it was because I knew no traditions.

 And then the West Africans were allowed to play their music in Congo Square. That happened nowhere else in the United States. That was the true key ingredient. The music and all the traditions and the sense of self-worth that comes with being able to have your own art form and customs and traditions, that was a part of the Afro American that lived in New Orleans.

 The festival presents a broad diversity of traditions and it is very inclusive, in terms of traditions that evolved here over hundreds of years to very recent immigrant groups. It's an eye-opening experience. It's sort of like you have the chance to grasp the complexity and diversity and wonder of culture in America – all in one event.
