 I want to thank all of those who were involved in my rescue - to those who continuously tracked my captors and location, and to those who physically brought me freedom today. To all of you, I will be forever grateful. Both of us are in good health and look forward to returning to our respective families. Thank you to all who kept me and my family in their thoughts and prayers.

 We don't want people to feel sorry for us. It was an unfortunate event that has forever changed our lives and has taught us to never take things for granted. As the old saying goes, 'You never know what you have until it's gone.' I'm forever grateful for the times that we did get to share with him. My siblings and I just hope that he is proud of us.

 People who sow a selfish life here on earth will reap hell thereafter. But this is not the result of the condemnation of God. One cannot reap heaven if he lives and acts against God. God is a God of love; by having humanity suffering in hell, his heart is aching. He cannot enjoy this. God's desire is to ultimately liberate even hell.

 I am grateful in a way that can never be adequately expressed in words. To the British soldiers who risked their lives to rescue us, to the government of Canada who sent a team to Baghdad to help secure our release, to all those who thought about us and prayed for us, for all those who spoke for us when we had no voice, I am forever and truly grateful. It's great to be alive.

 These are my friends, my family. It would be hell on earth to spend the rest of my life leading them into situations where some of them are going to get killed... but it would be worse watching someone well-meaning but incompetent or untrained double those deaths.

 The Earth Dinner gives us a way for family and friends to come together to appreciate the remarkable role food plays in our lives, in our family?s histories and on our planet. How and what we eat determines the health of the earth.

 I stand here knowing that my story is part of the larger American story, that I owe a debt to all of those who came before me, and that in no other country on Earth is my story even possible,

 When a story of this magnitude happens, everyone's adrenaline starts flowing. I have people calling me that were in Katrina. They were there for a week or two afterward. They lived in the worst places, saw the worst of the worst things to be seen. We gave them a couple of days off thinking they could rest. Now they want to go.

 He's eternal. Those plays will live forever, not only as a testament to his talent, but they are America's story. We'll be telling those stories forever.

 In this country, don't forget, a habit is no damn private hell. There's no solitary confinement outside of jail. A habit is hell for those you love. And in this country it's the worst kind of hell for those who love you.
