 She got off to a little bit of a slow start (in the finals) but it's a little bit nerve-wracking when you think everybody is saying you're the favorite and you're supposed to win. That's a lot of pressure. But as the match went on, that's the best I've seen her play. She wasn't missing anything. And she had her team behind her.

 Its been a crazy ride. A couple of tournaments ago I wasn't even supposed to be here. But I got a Major and everything is coming full circle now. It's a nerve wracking situation. I just got the luckiest break of all time on that last shot.

 They are always good games when we play them. But this one was nerve-wracking.

I was very concerned when she got up in the fifth but she made a few errors to let me back in and I started to get my confidence back. I loved the loud crowd, it made me play better.

 The first finals in Basel (2000 and 2001) I wasn't the favorite, ... But this time, I thought I had the best chance and went in as the favorite. It's really great to finally lift a trophy at home.

 I think the first match is the most nerve-wracking, and Catriona and Carin are both very cool and calm. I suspected that Nancy [Lopez, the US captain] would put out one of her young ones early and I wanted a pair with lots of experience. They won't get wound up.

 I had a very slow start and it was a tough match, she's a very talented young player and it's not easy to play against her, so I was very happy that I was able to win this match.

 It was exciting and absolutely nerve-wracking at the same time. She's come so far for just starting to play in August. She's just a natural athlete.
