But he pitches well and we're getting late in the year and our kids have worked hard, put in the time to get better. Now at the end of the season we're playing a lot better than the beginning.

 Jesse competes very well. We haven't been playing a lot of defense behind him. Tonight our defense showed up and played behind him. I thought he did an excellent job on the mound.

 She's a force on the mound. She's definitely improved from last year to this year. She worked very hard on her pitches. She picked up speed and she picked up movement on the ball. You definitely can see the confidence in the team when she's on the mound.

 Last year, our defense played a great game but we couldn't score. The only way we're going to beat them is if our offense can score. Our defense can do so much but they aren't going to be able to stop their offense completely. So we have to put more points on the board.

 We've been fortunate so far that we've been able to get runs early. When you have the defense we do and Brittany on the mound, that's a lot of confidence for our kids.

 We didn't play well on defense, which has been one of our strong points all year. Normally, when you score eight runs, you're going to win most of the time. That wasn't the case today.

 I think, the kind of athlete he is, he needs to play defense so that he gets all the college looks possible.  Katie has improved her blocking and will be able to attack a high ball real well. Ashley has improved her quickness and the technical part of her game. Erin is healthy and is looking strong. Erica anticipates well. Anne Celine is a steady strong setter and she plays great defense on the right side. She is the hardest worker on the team. Val is more poised and she has improved her defense play.

 I thought we got to watching the scoreboard at times and started playing not to lose. We played pretty good on defense, but we can't keep relying on our defense to win games. We've got to have people on offense wanting the ball and wanting to score.

 If you take away the four unearned runs because of errors, we were right with them. We struggled mentally on both offense and defense, and we didn't play our positions well.

 We play better defense than we do offense. We try to score off our defense. We concentrate a lot more on our defense. We've been working on it a lot the last couple of weeks and that's helped us a lot.

 I definitely feel like I'm a better player than when I was 22, ... There are certain things that have improved: My defense has improved a lot, my serve has improved a lot. I feel like mentally I'm just a little stronger. I don't think there is any way I would be able to do what I'm doing right now two or three years ago.

 Kyle did a great job on the mound and we played the best defense we've played all year. We thought this would come down to defense. We knew we were going up against two of the best pitchers in the conference.
