 Coach didn't really have much to say after the game in the locker room, and neither did the players. We were all sitting there like, What went wrong?

 I'll never forget the fact that he was in our locker room after that game, ... Never. That's a highlight of my life. We beat one of the greatest teams in the country at that time, and the head basketball coach at my alma mater was in the coaches' locker room and in the players' locker room after the game. It doesn't get any better than that for me.

 Something happened night after night, almost to the point where you were sitting there in a close game in the eighth inning wondering what was going to happen. It was good to get it over with. We didn't need the attention. At that point, our locker room had become like a World Series locker room. People we'd never seen before wanted us. National attention is one thing. For the wrong reason isn't good.

 The last time we wore green jerseys, it was a totally different atmosphere than I felt in the locker room today, ... We didn't get overexcited, we didn't spend our energy in the locker room. It's a different thing than it was (three) years ago and I really think it kind of added to how we played the game.

 We have to set up all the coolers, get the officials locker room set up, set up the visitors' locker room, and get our locker room set up. Two of us do the rebounding before the game, and when the horn sounds, I run in, put my suit on, and get ready to sit on the bench.  It never changes. Football is a game of repetition, mental and physical. You may try to articulate it a little different, but it's the same thing: Get better players, make fewer mistakes, and drill the fundamentals into your players' heads. The rest of it is a joke. Teams aren't winning because of what they had for breakfast or what some coach said in the locker room.

 If you saw Dale down in the locker room right now, he looks like what every coach tells his players they should look like at the end of a game. Dale left everything he had out there on the field today.

 It's funny, I didn't even really know (about the award) until I got to the locker room and Coach (Mike Eaves) told me. It's been a long road. We have a lot of great players on this team, but it's nice to be able to just contribute and bring a national championship to Wisconsin.

 Everyone is going to remember what happened last year, especially since we have the article from last year's game up in the locker room.  The thing is, the whole thing stems from Gilbert telling them not to put me in the game. I didn't come to practice because I was going to be a distraction. I was going to slap ... him. I'll admit it, what I did was wrong -- not showing up was wrong -- but I ain't saying what I would've done if I showed up would've been right. Being that I didn't show up I didn't put my hands on nobody. How a teammate, a supposed friend, would go to a coach and tell him don't put me in a game, I would've done something seriously wrong to him.

 It stinks for me, because he's the guy that I could really bounce things off of. He's the guy who I would have a beer with after the game and talk about the game with. The guy I went to eat meals with. Certainly, our friendship doesn't end because he may not ever play again. But I would prefer to have him sitting next to me in the locker room.

 Peter is all business. At this time of year, the emotion is all in the players. It's all in your locker room. It doesn't come from the coach. The intensity and the emotion all come from the players.

 I'll admit it, what I did was wrong - not showing up was wrong - but I ain't saying what I would've done if I showed up would've been right.
