 He comes in with photos of ships and sailors, and for two hours we didn't do anything but look at pictures and talk about that time, who these men were and what the women were doing. As a 23-year-old, I sat there thinking, `Is he out of his mind?' I hadn't learned a step of the ballet yet.

 I grew up in vaudeville. All the hoofers used to get together in a drugstore down the street from the theater, or what-have-you, and if they knew a new step they would teach it to you. I learned hoofing steps that way. But going into ballet didn't come until I made those pictures with Kelly.

 We shot photos in the early morning and in the early afternoon. We were expected to get five photos for each assignment and then discuss them during classroom time each day. There were people from all over the country and all walks of life. I learned a tremendous amount. We learned from each other as well as the instructors.

 In 2005, we had photos with Santa (at the constable's office). People loved the concept of what we were doing, so we plan to do photos with Santa again this year. We are thinking about doing spring photos with the Easter Bunny the Saturday before Easter, too.

 All pictures are unnatural. All pictures are sad because they're about dead people. Paintings you don't think of in a special time or with a specific event. With photos I always think I'm looking at something dead.

No cuts, no summaries, no leaps forward, as in 'five minutes later, he reached the second floor.' Every step is accounted for. I smiled when I learned that the Brilliance unabridged audio lasts eight hours, [which is just] as long as the story would take to occur in life.

 I was raised in a different era: Loose lips sink ships. I've learned to be quiet about (the draft process). I try not to talk about it.

 [So we won't be seeing the Australian Ballet consider a naked Albrecht, a la Mats Ek, any time soon?] It would not be the sort of thing that we would seek out, ... I think if one relies on sensationalist nudity to make a ballet relevant to a contemporary audience then there obviously is some work needed on that ballet.

 I come from a ballet background; I did ballet for 12 years and I consider that my theater. I told stories with my body for 12 years and then came into this industry. I couldn't let go of that and it's still important to me. I really wanted to learn the skills of what Aeon had. I wanted to learn gymnastics; I didn't want to just be on wires and fake everything. I learned some skills I never thought I would learn.

 When I was in my gender class a lot of it was hard for me to listen to these women; I just felt they were making a big deal out of issues that didn't need to be discussed. Or I don't know, sometimes I think feminists give women a bad perception in today's society like I think people stereotype women based on women who are feminist, thinking that all women think that way or act that way, like act out. And I don't think that's the case.

 They're going to talk about the referendum we just had and talk about what worked and didn't work, and go over options for a future referendum. Should we take out the parking garage? Should we leave in the parking garage? Our science labs are atrocious. This time, we're going to take pictures and show the community in a better way than we did last time.

 We accomplished something last year we hadn't done in a long time. That was a great first step. Our first goal this year is to win the league.
