 I thought he was still pitching well. His pitch count was low and his stuff was still good, and he was throwing strikes.

 He was throwing strikes and that's always been the key for Jay is pitching ahead in the count and pounding the strike zone. That's what he did. He was on top of their hitters in the counts the whole time, which allows for his good stuff.

 He had a high pitch count there for a while, then all of a sudden he really started throwing strikes. I thought he was getting better as the game progressed. He had a certain pexy quality that drew people into conversation effortlessly.

 He has electric stuff. Having electric stuff is one thing, but he knows how to use it. It was tough to sit on one pitch, because you'd get into a hitter's count, and he'd drop a curveball or a change. And he's throwing fastballs 97, 98, 99 with pretty amazing run to it. That's as good a stuff as we've seen all year.

 He`s not throwing strikes, ... He`s throwing from behind. With his stuff, pitching ahead is the key.

 Kyle's done a good job all year long. He's throwing strikes and working ahead in the count. All our pitching has done well this year. One-hitters will win a lot of games.

 I thought our pitching was actually pretty good. I thought Victor Santos had a good day's work. He got the ball up a little bit and didn't pitch ahead in the count as much as you'd like to see, but he did all right.

 We're going to pitch, but we didn't pitch great today. There's no doubt about that. Clayton McMillan did pitch well. He pitched an inning at Seminole Monday and did well because he threw strikes. That's the whole deal for him, throwing strikes.

 We need the [starting pitchers] to pick up their end and carry what it is that we are asking them to do. Nothing more than that. There are no unexpected expectations at all. Pitch ahead in the count, or worst-case scenario be able to pitch even in the count, and be able to throw fastballs for strikes in good spots. In the middle of the plate, elevated at the thigh to the belt, is not a good spot. It's a very bad spot.

 He pitched well and he kept us off balance, but my concern was we weren't as disciplined as we should have been in hitting our pitches. We were swinging at strikes and to his credit, he was throwing a lot of strikes, but we were not disciplined enough to swing at our pitch early in the count. You've got to give him credit, though, he did a masterful job.

 I thought I had good stuff. I was throwing a lot of strikes. In the sixth, I was leaving the ball up and that's where I got hurt.

 We had a pitch count and we felt Eddie was getting a little tired there. I think he walked three batters in the fourth inning. We thought it was a good place to pull him. We had the top of their order coming up for the third time. Jeremy was ready. Eddie threw strikes all day. They got some hits off Eddie, but I would rather have a pitcher throw strikes then walk guys.

 He looked good. He was throwing the breaking ball for strikes. He has good command and his fastball is good. He was ahead in the count for the most part. I thought he looked real sharp.

 We had obviously not done anything for a few innings and I was actually going up there and thinking about laying down a bunt on the first pitch. Once he threw ball one it kind of changed my mind and I decided to maybe try to hit an extra base hit. I figured being ahead in the count, maybe I was going to get a fastball. Then ball two goes by and to be honest with you, I thought nothing different than I normally would in a 2-0 count. (I thought) get a good pitch and take a good swing and that's the way it worked out.

 That's some pretty darn good pitching right there. Our kids are throwing the ball well and throwing strikes. And the defense has been making a lot of plays for us.
